Haha, na, gonna get the block to the machine shop next week as well and get the crank sorted measured etc so i can get the shells ordered right away, will get the bottom end built up, the project will run out of steam in the middle of december, budget wise these are my worst 2 months of the year. Also, my freeing up cash isn't until feb/march and also may not be happening, so the project will run based on my wallet week to week :( not a brilliant time to start if i'm honest!!

I thought it was the other way round? Check tolerances then see what size pistons i can use, but yeah i'm going forged, not fussed about getting a used set either, looking for CR 9:01.

The machine shop will bore to your forged pistons, so will require them with your supplied block.

That's what the build i'm copying uses, suppose it won't do any harm to go lower, hoping i can get 86mm pistons, wouldn't wanna buy a set of 86mm then find out i could only use 86.5mm :(

Oh, just to add to this, the Caldina turbo (3sgte) has a CR of 9:1. Fuel cut on them is 23psi

I also echo reservations about 9:0, I bought this CR from Aaron in the US but after further research I found this was not a good idea. One of the reasons they use 9:0 CR in the US because they have e85 fuel. Also you'd have to think about your head gasket thickness too with that CR

I wanted a reliable forged engine so to cut a long story short I went for 8:0 in the end
