Glad to see this engine will live again. Such a shame what happened to Kong's car, it really is :(

Thanks mate, yeah it really is. Although i never got to see the car in person before the fire, i can tell just from having a read through his parts list shows he had a great car but it would cost a fortune to rebuild it all back to what it was

Quality is never cheap, but we don't do this for profit do we. Good job really or I'd had gone out of business a long time ago

Nothing to update unfortunately apart from buying an anti-torque bar which ive no idea of its location now.
Cant believe its May already
Made a mistake in selling the golf so soon that its got me thinking of buying another car again until this is ready so i can actually get about.. But then it leaves me trying to sell another car which could take a month again, not sure whats more hassle :-k

Decisions, decisions ](*,)

Well the good news is im going to be patient and hold out of buying another car.
If it gos to plan should be ready within a couple of weeks
Piston Rings on order and engine will be built ready to drop in and my old engine will be coming out. Once thats done i will be going down to degrease engine bay and tart it up a little then ill try and help Peter drop the 5sGTE in :bounce:

Also bought some acetate sheet and ordered leds to do my dash cluster mod (thanks Shinny for the reference on your thread)

Got a couple of other bits to go on too but ill post up once ive got them. Still looking for whiteline arbs and ill be polybushing soon too :eye:

The latest goodies I bought, i was planning on coilovers but didnt want to spend too much just now on them so when these came up i got them:

They have a fair bit of underseal on them especially the fronts so need a good clean before going on. Was going to strip the paint and respray them but i dont have the time so going to leave that til winter probably as i want to see if i like them enough to keep in my plans for the future.
Rears will go down to Sbits with me and ill swap them out whilst the rear end is dismantled, fronts will go on when the car comes back home

My god they do need a clean!

Look forward to seeing how they are - never been in a car with yellow billies and soft (ish) springs.

You got that right, spent 2hours the other day trying to get it off one of the front ones then gave up ](*,)
Its Apex springs ive got so im hoping they will be a nice combo with the 16"s and ill be polybushing soon too so looking for the ultimate handling/comfort setup.
If im not too keen on it after the polybush setup then ill go coilovers down the line. Im also putting on Whiteline arbs, already got a rear one at Sbits to go on, so on the look out for a front now.
But considering a friend of mines owns a garage i may just get him to order a new one as it would only cost £140 :-k

Those should provide you with a nice ride mate... Good choice! I once had apex springs on Koni shocks and it was a really nice set up so this will be similar I imagine! Won't be long until you will have the car back :thumleft:

I hope they are a good choice, the apex are fine on my standard bilsteins just now but a bit too boaty over bumps and cornering.
I know im excited :bounce:

That's what I found with my Apex on std. NA shocks. I asked around and was generally told to invest in ARBs but would've gone for stiffer shocks had I kept the car and not felt it was a faff to take the suspension apart again!!

Can't wait for first 5S-GTE passenger ride.

Well luckily ive had the suspension apart to do drop links and lowering springs and front top mounts in the last 1500 miles so should be straight forward (hopefully)

I cant wait for a driver spin in it, never been in a 5s
But... Im not expecting a big difference as im running everything standard until next year :eye:

No - I wouldn't expect too much difference, apart from reassurance in your block and probably teething issues

I wonder if they sound any different, on account of the displacement...

We will find out shortly, supposedly forged engines are noisier when cold but goes quiet when warm.. That is just what ive read up on several forums though so hear/say as such!

Cleaned the 2 rear yellow billies today, look alot better than before:

I had planned to strip the paint off them and respray them but going to hold off for a while and see if i like the setup first.
These are going to get put on when i go to Sbits. The fronts need a hell of alot more cleaning so those will go on when car is back home with me

They came up well mate! I was thinking about tidying mine up but I'll just leave it if I'm getting coilovers.

You going for new ball joints then?
