Post by dylbie »

Just bought some Ferodo high performance brake pads from ebay part number 'FRP308'

Anyone know if these are any good, or anyone used these before?

Cheers

They are pretty good - I've used them on track, and they stood up to a 40min non-stop track session without fading :thumleft:

theyre Ferodos "OEM" offering basically, the bottom of the range road pad, but they are still pretty good, one of the better OEM pads, and still better than "fast road" s**t like EBC Green Stuff and Black Diamond. DS Performance (previously known as DS2000) are their performance "fast road" pad, followed by DS2500 which are a crossover between fast road and trackday. with DS3000 as the full on trackday or race pad which isnt nice to use on the road.

wow a road pad cant believe i didnt cook them, it does saying racing pads all over the box mind. ive only tried red stuff in other bigger cars and they work well the yellow stuffs are ment to be good to, and ive never heard a complaint about ds2500 apart from the price of course.

They're excellent, even from cold, and didn't fade even after a 40min track session at Teeside ( short circuit, with lots of braking )

i did a group buy on these a year or so ago. they are an european numbered pad and are of higher spec than the oem. they are a fast road/race spec. similar to the "good" brakes ferodo offer now. i cant remember the compound but it was NOT standard. this is why the track stars amongst us like them. great fade resistance.race pad for less than standard price. :thumleft: if i can get another lot at a decent price i will do the offer again but its the postage that kills it.

I actually picked up a set of these from Halfords, they weren't as cheap as Kevs ones (my current set) but they were still very reasonable, perhaps £25.

Excellent pads and very good on road and track, my 1st set have done two trackdays now and are only about 25% worn on standard discs.

I've only had bad experiences with Ferodos on the 1a on track. Well DS2500 & 3000. I wouldn't dare try anything lesser TBH, but that's just me :thumleft:

Interesting, I had Ferodo 2500's on my 200SX. They were great on track and under hard driving conditions, but they were unacceptable for road use IMO. No bite when cold and very little pedal feel.

The 308's for the MR2 are some kind of miracle pad by comparison. They're fine on road (although a little "deader" on the first couple of stops) and they excel on track. I think they're made out of compressed fairy dust and unobtainium carbide. \:D/ :thumleft:

Different pads will work differently on different cars :thumleft:

EBC Redstuff were just about OK on our SC on track and road although they would start fading after about 15 - 20 minutes on track and would be smoking fairly heavily once back in the padock. Red Stuff on Tom's SC wouldn't last 10 minutes before he had to come in to cool down. Same on my 1a track car - utter rubbish.

Yellows have been brilliant on the SC and 1a on road and track.

Basically find a combination that works for you and stick to it :thumleft:

Hmmm, Mine are marked MISCFCP308A not FRP, the pad material is 3466F (Marked on the pads).

Are these the same as the FRP's? I don't want to put racing jobs on my road car, they could be a bit of a problem from cold :(

The material certainly feels rough, not to sure how long my discs will last, I have some spares in case ;)

Any comments much appreciated!

Slap them on there, you won't be disappointed! And mine certainly haven't eaten the discs.
