a stock v6 will be just as quick as a stock rev 1 turbo

Rubbish!

You care to elaborate? Ive seen a drag video of a V6 against a rev1 and the v6 wins, Ive also seen vids with v6's returning quicker 1/4 mile times. As I said it depends on the driver and both cars have to be stock. Of course its much easier to mod a turbo to 300bhp, you could never get that from a v6 without spending a fortune. Im not dissing turbos whatsoever, just saying the v6 is a different animal. And yep, agreed, lets not start a debate on this guys thread. Hope you are enjoying your car m8 :thumleft:

But peak power isn't a 100% indicator of how fast a vehicle accellerates its only a very rough guide. Its thats only a snippet of the powerband you use when accelerating...

I don't even believe that a stock rev3, in road conditions would be as quick as the same car powered by a v6. At least thats my opinion from owning both cars.

lol I think the fastest time on the 1/4mile database for a v6 is 14.1 isn't it?

Rev 1/2 - 14.2 Straight out the factory
Rev 3 - 13.7 straight out the factory

Comparing a V6 to them isn't quite apples for apples .. quite a few factors need to be considered....I doubt they'll be running the original wheel / tyre combo, exhaust / fuel / ambient temp, wind etc...

As other have suggested.. lets not spam this thread.. create another ! :thumleft:

So the v6 is faster then returning a 14.1 against a 14.2 :-P Yeah agreed this is a debate that will never end. Both are great! :thumleft:

Turbo v6 would be the best of both worlds!

a V6 with a GT30 strapped to it would make a fantastic fast road car I reckon, plenty of displacement to spool it up, i bet the torque curve would be lovely. =P~

=; Wooooooooooooooooooooooshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!

Fuel
Wheels
Tyres
Exhaust

13.7 in a rev 1/2 all day long with change in exhaust and tyres !

I'd like to have an MR2 V6 for the experience.. my daily plugger is a Honda V6 Vtec 3.0 which apart from the weight will have similar characteristics...

Again.. size of ports in the head - the mechanical implecations....etc... I dont think the original intentions were to make the V6 engine a performance engine.. more of a torque monster...

Torque is where its at! I like the turbos too, was going to buy one before I got my NA but the insurance was a tad too much. If I had gone down that route I would have modded the engine as much as possible.

My best 1/4 mile time in my V6 stands at 14.6, this was at Japshow Santapod in October into a raging headwind, I'm confident in the summer with a dry track and less wind I could get down to 14s but I think that would be as fast as it could get without further work.
Point to note though, on that particular occasion my time wasn't beaten by any stock Rev1 or Rev2 tubby...in fact they were a few tenths behind :)

Wow! So many opinions and yet no one has given him this advice?

The dipstick. Putting it back in, lean it to the left. (V6 owners will know what I mean) :)
