Great news for the people who haven't as yet booked their ferry cossing, www.ldlines.com have bought Speedferries out of administration and are operating the service again from Dover - Boulogne.

I've been on the site today and a booking on Tuesday 9th June at 7.30am returning Friday 19th Jun at 10.30am is only £48 return.

Just booked with http://www.norfolkline.com/ferry/ and return Dover to Dunkerque was only £35 with £1 booking charge and a fuel surcharge of...2p! So, £36.02 return, bargainous

Another bargain found for the trip.

For those of you that haven't got a hi-vis vest yet to keep the French police happy, I found some in the pound shop (Poundland) in Sheffield when I was browsing, so bought two making a saving of £8 over halfrauds prices. They had them in medium and large. I presume other shops in the same chain should have them also.

Albeit of no interest to those of you doing the Bolt-On trip, I've just bought european breakdown cover from Tesco at a price of £36 for their 8 day package (they also do a 30 day). It's run by Green Flag so should be reliable enough and they had no qualms about insuring my 14yr old GT-S.

Bonjour!

Its that time of year again when we need to start making plans for our camping with you. This will be our 9th year camping at the Chateau Chanteloup. Can we have our usual pitch near the big tree at the entrance to the main site on the left.

We will need space for about 15 tents this year. Everyone will be contacting you themselves to book as we are all arriving and leaving on different dates. Like last year I will ask them to quote the name TOYOTA CLUB as a reference just so you know are are all part of the same group and will be camped together like last year.

Probably the best thing to do would be to meet up at a service station just South of Boulogne. We have people sailing to Dunkerque, Calais and Boulogne.

What I propose is we meet at the services just after junction 24 ( about 1 mile ) on the A16, the services are called Baie de Somme

Make sure you have enough petrol to get you to the services, its about 60 miles from Dunkerque, 45 miles from Calais and 30 miles from Boulogne.

Everyone also needs to buy themslves a French road map and get familiar with the route, its highly likely that at some point we WILL get seperated, especially through Rouen.

Checklist

By now you should have done the following:

Registered your interest on IMOC
Had a look at our own website www.lemans-24heuresdumans-tour.co.uk
Book the White Rabbit for the 8th June
Book ferry fro the 9th June sailing out between 06.00 - 07.00
Book camping at the chateau de chanteloup

Things to consider soon:

Buy French roads map and get familiar with route
Check with insurance company that you are covered in France
Buy breakdown ( DO NOT take the risk BUY IT )
Ensure you have 1st aid kit / high viz vest / breakdown triangle
Carry spare bulb kit
Carry GB sticker
Carry small fire extinguisher
Carry tyre weld
Service the car before you leave
Change the coolant
Check breaks
Travel insurance
Plan getting yourself to the meeting place at Baie de Somme
Organise car parking tickets in WHITE
Organise grandstand tickets if required

Car Parking

You have to have pre booked tickets to park at Le Mans, you can't just turn up and expect to get parked in a back street, layby or the side of the road, its just not worth taking the risk and getting towed away.
Thisyear we are parking in the White car park, right in front of the main entrance. I have booked a block of 10 white tickets all together but these are now all sold out from me.
What you will have to do is get your own parking tickets booked. Ring Just Tickets on 01304 228866 and tell them you want to book a white parking ticket, give them my reference LM0178 and tell them I have booked a block of 10 parking tickets and you would like to have tickets next to that block of 10 if possible.
You need o book your parking tickets ASAP as they are extemely limited, at the moment they are £37 for a 5 day parking pass.

June 8th will be here sooner than you think, lets get ahead of the game.

Upon emailing him I have received an LM09 price list for camping from Dominique. The info is also available on his website at http://www.chateau-de-chanteloup.com/CH ... Tarifs.htm

Seeing as my stay is the 9th-15th, which is 1 day at 'normal' prices, and then 5 days at 'Le Mans 24hr' prices, I make that €149.70 per person coming back on the Monday, which is presently about £133.

Edit: Michael, you could add car parking tickets to your checklist!
