It's not really worth asking what other people pay as they will have totally different circumstances to you. There are far to many variables with insurance quoting to compare one quote to another.

We were paying just under £500 fully comp, unlimited miles, agreed valuation (which we were glad we had when it came to a claim), all mods declared, parked out on the street 12 points between the two of us etc, etc...

The important thing with insurance is it's not always best to go for the cheapest. They are usually the ones that are a right PITA when it comes to a claim.
Go for the companies that come recommended as when it comes to a claim, the last thing you want is to be messed about.

A-Plan are probably the most professional insurance company we have ever dealt with. Both before we took the policy and after when we had a claim.

Classic policies are great too, but bare in mind if you run over your allowed mileage without informaing them and extending the number of miles (usually costs a fair bit too), you won't be covered.

I pay around £500 - that's with a lot of points and 7yrs no claims and I'm under 30. As above though, it varies a lot. Last year I was about £250 more!

My AE101 conversion comes in around £200-ish: Houghtons, fully comp, all mods declared, max NCB / protected / 3000 miles / no points.

Adrian Flux were OK with me previously, too.....

Houghtons, and other classic insurers.

insurance as a whole has gone up silly amounts due to financial climate, uninsured people, and insurnce fraud.

Also, as a lady, you have now lost your female drivers discount thanks to equality laws.

I pay £129.15 for fully comp. 3K miles a year on an SC. It's insured with Houghtons on the Mark 1 Club Classic scheme with Chaucer. Agreed value doesn't cost any more, but you have to go through procedures to verify its value. Houghtons are good to deal with and are on tel. 01582 867763.

There are certain stipulations to be eligible, ie current Mark 1 Club member, second vehicle, kept overnight driveway or garage...and I think some age limits at the top and bottom end. It's not covered for business or commuting which might not suit. Some of the non-specialist insurers, such as Aviva/Direct Line use DVLA data which will show it merely as an MR2. They can't cope with the Supercharger detail in their system. If they insure you on that basis, it's possible you're not covered in the event of a claim.

If you are using as your only or main car, Ie a non classic policy, that doesn't sound too bad in all honesty. I'm at £560 for my AE86 which has a number of modifications and has business use.

It's just what it costs thesedays. :(

Thanks i will try them, im nearly 29 with full 7 +yrs NCB on my daily driver and a seperate 2yrs NCB to use on the MR2 if they cant mirror NCB.

Im looking for it to be a weekend car so about 3K a year or less mileage wise and its garaged overnight, hopefully Hougtons will come up trumps!

fingers crossed :thumleft:

Great. I've been insuring Mark 1's with them (and previously named company there) since 1996 and they're good news. I too had a few years NCB on a Mark2 when I got the SC ...but it just made sense to abandon that NCB as it was so much cheaper to go "classic" route. Also, the annual mileage form with Houghtons can be filled in in kms if that's your situation. So I'm on annual 4,828 kms instead of 3,000 miles.
