Rolling Road Result (TD06)

Post by 2barGee »

Well mapping was done on the rolling road.....and at that time I had a boost leak so the car would only hold 0.8bar and she made 300@fly

Once i had sorted the boost leak the rest of the map was finished on the road, and mapped up 2 around 1.25bar which feels great.

So i went back to the dyno yesterday for a power run and made........

Image

but if you look at the boost curve it would not hold AGAIN for some reason ](*,) but still 342@fly at 1bar is still pretty good.

Shame the boost did not hold.....it holds fine on the road with no drop off :-k

My car is on standard internals with a few trick bolt ons and has been running this power for around 2 months and has not missed a beat.

Roll on some track days and 1/4 mile when the weather gets better!!!!

Is it just me or does your td06 take a while to spool up ?

nice results.

could it be possible while its boosting to 1.2bar, its helping the peak power to reach 342 at 1bar....?
ie, if it was just a dead on 1bar all through the revs, would it of still hit 342?
as hp is a measurement of torque, so 1.2bar of torque helped it get to that level past the 5.5k area??

just a general question really.

bet that HUGE CC is doing you a world of good on the dyno!

that power curve looks pretty similar to the graph of my new car before the 1.4bar remap....
(this was at 1.15bar aparently, but majorly heat soaking, 50C intake temps, so hopefully my new WI kit will help keep those temps down and see even more at low boost, and pretty decent at 1.4bar which im running now)

did they hook into the same line your taking your gauge reading from? definatly strange boost curve.

The TD06 is a great turbo. 1.0 bar of boost puts out around the 350 fwhp mark, as proven on other TD06 setups. Shame the boost did not hold on the dyno. I bet its quite scary at 1.25 bar on the road

if it makes peak power at 1bar then holding 1bar throughout the rev range will still yield the same peak power. If it had held that 1.2bar it would have made a fair old amount more at the peak. however it didn't so that's the next thing to sort

Perhaps I'm going mad but at 7k rpm, where 340hp lies also, it's Reading 1.2bar. But same sort of hp at 1bar earlier in the revs.

Strange boost graph. Be great when that's sorted.
However he does mention it's fine on the road. So hard to say what's going on there then.
Either way, bet it's a beast!

Nice results Dan - good to see some more happy TD06 owners out there :thumleft:

Is there a torque graph as well? What did it make at the wheels btw?

I'm still awaiting my os Giken clutch install but as soon as that's done it'll be time for me to head to the dyno too :D

Good results Dan :thumleft:

Is the dyno not loading the motor enough to hold the boost? If its ok on the road then it surely points to a load issue?

Are you sure you are not getting this boost pattern on the road as well? How are you checking this on the road? Are you also actually logging boost or just watching the boost gauge?

Just asking as another thing that can cause that sort of boost pattern is having a high gain setting on your EBC. Your EBC boost setting may be set for about 1 Bar but you may be spiking above this initially because of the aggressive gain setting.

This starts to become noticeable on my car too when I set the gain to 25+ (Blitz ID-3 SBC)

When mapping ryan was logging everything and the boost was pretty much fine....but that was on the road.

Its a shame it did not hold on the dyno to see what she is kicking out but i'm not that bothered as it feels quick and plenty for some track days

Torque was around the 310 (1.1bar) mark but again with boost problems

342 was 290 at the wheels mate.

As long as the weather is ok this sunday I throw her up the 1/4 at the pod!!!

Pretty much the same as me mate, I have got some 15" enkie with r888s all round for tracks days and the odd 1/4 mile.

The boost control is better on the road but still not perfect and the dyno just exaggerates the loading on the car which make it worse. I suspect a tear maybe in the Wastegate seal or a dodgy AVCR solenoid.

Either way it goes like stink

I will strip the wastegate down when I get chance and see how its looking. I think I will wait for the weather to get a bit better
