Mk1 Laid-up over winter - Advice please?

Post by Swiss Toni »

My Mk1B is laid-up over winter (carpeted and heated garage, well ventelated).

Does anyone have any suggestions for a weekly (?) system to keep it in tip-top condition?

Should I start it and let it stand for a while?
Should I take it for a brisk run? (5 miles? more?)

Should I disconnect the battery?

Cheers

you have the most important bit covered. well ventillated.
leave the brake off , disconnect the battery and start her up every few weeks and she will be fine. the standing time is not long enough to cause any real problems. you could leave it untouched as its garaged and tucked away all cosy, but we like to tinker :)

If you roll it backwards and forwards and hit the brake pedal a couple of times stops the brakes seizing on..
