Valuation for mk1 manuals?

Post by anna »

Help!

Has anyone seen or bought/sold any of the manuals

Particularly the BGB, BBB.
I remember seeing a BGB on ebay once, but that was ages ago and I can't remember what it sold for... search doesn't turn up anything relevant now...

I have had interest for all three, but have no idea what they are worth

+ £20 a piece for BBB and BGB.

They did used to make SILLY money on eBay a few years back.

I guess you could try on there and see how you get on?

You just never can tell with ebay
my BBB cost I think about £5

BBB = Big Blue Book - aka - Toyota 4A-GE Engine Repair Manual
BGB = Big Green Book - aka - Toyota MR2 Repair Manual
both are the official Toyota workshop manuals as used by dealers

hmmm - some widely varying values there...

Maybe ebay is the best bet then - I don't want to rip anyone off if it's only worth a fiver... but equally I wouldn't want it to go for less than market rate - although market rate seems a bit variable!

how can you rip someone off on Ebay?
accurately describe the item, reasonable starting bid & the rest is up to the bidders
no one is forced to bid
like i said before there are no rules! somedays your item won't sell others it will rocket away
the books are worth what someone will pay
the fact that you haven't had an offer for them just yet probably means as with everything else just now the market is depressed

yes i agree you cant rip anyone off on ebay. it always amuses me when you get the "look at this price on ebay, its only worth 10p" type threads. its an auction, the choice is yours.

Sorry - I meant I wouldn't want to rip anyone off by asking for too much here - some people have only paid £5/£10 for theirs on here, but it seems others have gone for £60  I'd like market rate for them, but it seems it's difficult to put a price on market rate!

I have had interest but as I can't put a market rate on them, it looks like ebay will be the best bet.

I only paid £5 for my BBB but I'm a cunning old fox (tight git!!)
while £60 seems a bit steep the one I saw go for that only did so because at least 2 people thought it was worth that ammount, therefore it must be

its simply a supply and demand situation you can't I'm sure now just go into Mr T and order one so you have to get them when and where you can and justify the cost to yourself

Hi Anna I've bought and sold a few over the years, best I've sold a BGB for was about £45 a few years back and the cheapest I've bought one for was £13.00. I've got a couple at the moment I was also thinking of selling. Would say you'll defo make £20-£25 on a BGB £10-15 on a BBB remember to give yourself plenty of leeway with the postage a BGB is a heavy beggar and could easily cost you tenner to p+p.

HTH
