WRA 2

Post by TOPGUN »

As most of you know we tried to beat the Netherlands world record for most MR2s in a rolling convoy,we had 293 on track and bet there record but due to the poor organisation of the officials at Rockingham our attempt couldn't count because they failed to give us an important signed document,Therefor we are trying again next year on my committee there are 3 other members to help out and we have set the ball rolling. It might be an idea to set up a committee on here to lease with other clubs to share ideas etc. Here is the link to our club.

Yeah the Dunsfold Aerodrome could be an idea. The A281 would be a sight to see all those MR2s running down it

No worries. As soon as we get a date firmed up i can add it to the events section. We can start to compile names here then move them to events section once date is set.

If there is a top gear track could we approach the BBC top gear producers for the usage while they cover it as a feature for the programme and/or magazine? World records? Toyota reliability feature after they've just lost money for the first time since the war? Stig sets a lap in a 'Bang for Buck' recession piece?
..... What d'ya think?

would be quite interesting to see what times would be set down by each of the mk's

another option is does it have to be a Track for the record?

If not summer and Pendine sands in Wales Would be Very cool

Pendine local council stopped vehicles from being driven on the beach in 2004 last I heard as I was going to take part in some pre-Cannoball filming there.

Also, trouble with driving on the sand is getting it all out of the car afterwards.

I was speaking to a mate who works at dunsfold. Hiring the track is only around teh £200 mark I think. However there are things like ambulance and emergancy services that are required for certain events. Not sure how this would effect the WRA2.

I'd guess we'd be OK without since it's not a competitive event in any way?
Not positive though.

Yeah its something that needs to be confirmed. It might be a requisite of the hire contract or something.

Once we get a confirmed venue and if we have to pay for it, so depending on how many clubs participate this can be devided for each club to contibute towards the cost or other wise each individual would have to pay say £3 each to cover the cost of hiring the venue & admin costs etc.

Could your mate find out how it would cost ,perhaps get us a discount lol, that way we can find out how much each club will have to pay.

I think to cover any club's own liability ins. there would need to be something ike st john's ambulance or such, for such a large group of people.
Most events the clubs attend his is already covered by the event organisers. his may be the case if the circuit hire includes mashall of some sort, and medi cover.
I suggest we do need marshals etc to direct the cars etc.
