Is is really a Rev 3?

Post by IanClements »

Hi guys, I normally only post in the MK1 section so hello to you all; a mate of mine is currently looking at an L reg 1993 MK2 import that's been advertised as Rev 3.

To my knowledge Rev 3's didn't happen until 1994 but since it's an import I thought that maybe Japan got them earlier. Does anyone know?

The rear lights and spoiler look rev 3 but I know these can be put on afterwards. Is there a defintive way to tell if it's a Rev 3?

if its got a rev3 spoiler its most likely to be a rev3

if it was a rev2 with a rev3 spoiler the prev owner would have gone to alot of trouble welding the spoiler holes and spraying.... it will be a rev3

rev3's started late 2003, possibly october :-k , is it a turbo or n/a ?

the afm should be gone for starters as well as the car being colour coded etc.

any pics of the car/engine bay ?

This is what he's looking at, there's an engine pic on there but you can't see that much. Looks in good condition although I suspect that steering wheel is an Ebay Option tuning special!

Thanks for that link Daz, very informative.

yes, but it will also have ugly welding or fiberglass on the inside from where the old spoiler holes were on the wings.......

that is a rev 3, it has a rev 3 na engine.

Import rev3 3SGE has is quoted at 180PS which is roughly 178bhp, so he is correct  However the chances of an import making much power over the UK 173bhp engine are doubtful unless you run some 100+ RON.

IIRC Rev 3 started in November 1993 so some 93 cars sneak in :-)

Has all the visual clues, interior, rear, etc.
Don't think rev 1s or 2s have abs even as option, though will probably be proved wrong on this?
