Why Am I getting a Thud when I turn off??

Post by Vindezal »

Not sure if I noticed this before cuz sub was in the boot of my fiesta, but now when I turn off I get a Bump! noise through the sub.

My amplifier is a high quality one Pheonix Gold Tantrum series 400.4

(4channel amp running front door speakers and other 2 channels bridged running sub which sounds lovely)

Its a shame its doing it... hardly used but 3 years old. Any help??

Does it do it with the Phono plugs removed?

Yes = Amp is the problem
No = Problem is the Amp doesn't have a power-off mute function, or it has stopped working, and the Source unit is the thing popping when switching off.

Top end PG amps have power off mute circuits - they may be missing (to save a few bob) on the entry level kit.

Well when I had it wired to my small speakers before, I think i can remember a click when off anyway so could have been there all along? just a 12" sub amplifies a click to a thud! Well, hmmm...

Maybe Pheonix Gold is such High end stuff You do have to pay like loads :eye:
