Steve is this the sort of thing you're aiming for?

Image

As for strenghtening the boot floor. I dont think it will need it. If the I/C is fixed to the rear boot wall, then that rigidity of the core will hold the floor in place. Obviously it couldn't hurt to run some extra bracing around it, but I wouldn't say its a "must do".

Yeah mate, that's EXACTLY what i'm doing, where did you find that pic?
In fact lookin at your pics, is yours mounted at an angle as well? Don't know why more peeps don't do it that way, airflow seems more "natural" to me?

I drew that picture on "The GIMP"

I have posted it on a few forums about welding and race cars to get some feed back. My only concern about the design is that it might "lift" the rear of the car at high speeds. Depends what angle its at though I guess.

And yeah, mine is mounted at an angle. They prefered it like that - probaly for the more natural flow.

Did have mine at the top of the bootlid pullin air in and exiting out the bottom, but changed this to pullin air in from the bottom and exiting between the rear lights which made a massive difference in intake temps.Sorry no photos of the current setup.

I have been reading this post and I have decided to go this root with my mr2 but what kind of intercooler would you use ie if they have a certain spec need to do this or any can be used?

Although many cars have provided great results from using the universal Xs-power 4 row intercoolers on here I would recommend looking more at the skyline units which can be found on eBay for a very similar price.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-SKYLINE-GT ... 240%3A1318

They have a much better end tank design to ensure that the air is dissipated across all the core which the universal xspower units do not provide.

it was mate yes,

whats up with the car? i know how u feel bud iv only just got mine back running exactly right and mapped done like 500miles at low boost and now the weathers so crap iv decided to just store her till next year..... think iv driven the mr2 about 20times this year ](*,)

Wimp :-)

I had my car retweaked to 1.4bar in the rain (road map) the other weekend.
Car felt planted, bit nervey, but handled 1.4bar fine!

I personally think with a good progressive water/meth system, after doing a bit of research when I mentioned going down this route to Ryan instead of crazy boot mount. He thought it was a good idea. As my top mount turbo won't fit and cheaper cc option.
Can work just as well if not better than a boot mount I'm sure.
Going down very well on the US forums.

Just an option.
If I don't like it I'll sell it, same can't be said for a boot mount!

I'll be going down this route to crack 400hp on relatively low boost. Maybe spring time. But knowing me it'll prob be done before xmas, lol

Yeh great idea destoying your boot! :-)
Or fitting a 1k cc
:-)

Same effects can be had for much less.

The aem is progressive, on top of an LED warning for low fluid as well as boost reduction if low, or led warning of low pressure with the pump.
If the aem ran low and didn't tell me, I'd he worried, same can be said for crap boot flow if not thought about., or hearsoak in the boot also

Am just open to other ways of sorting cooling without boot
Mounting

Meth and water still equals near race fuel! And can be used day in day out like a boot mount
