LED bulbs for Smoked crystal front lenses?

Post by craig »

Right, I have some LED bulbs that I bought, and the seller claimed they were white, although they seem to have a blue tinge to them and they ain't very bright.

I want to get some 501 LED bulbs for them that will "fill" the sidelight section of the front lense rather than a dim(ish) dot. My smoked lenses are e-approved but the sidelights I have been told, are a possibly advisory on the MOT.

Thanks for any help :)

Ey up Red,

I've actually tinted my clear lights, and what I say tint, they are JET black. But with plenty of laquer in the paint i've got an LED to shine through very brightly still, although it is more of a bright dot than evenly distributing light through the unit. Ultraleds.co.uk I think the site is called..

Could try this type they are supposed to be better
Would all depend on the style of your lights as well don't forget ,uk style have a separate compartment within the lights to keep the sidelight and indicator apart,so the bulbs will never fill the entire width of the light

I cant remember if i bought some of these a while ago ill have a look for you to see if they are worth buying :-k

Try www.car-mod-shop.co.uk they do the sidelight led's you can get single led bulbs or 6 led bulbs which they claim are much brighter.

I've got tinted lights on mine and used these leds from ultraled

These were the brightest leds I could find 3-4 months ago. As was mentioned earlier they are more of a bright dot than full light, but look very good. You can now get these which have might be more what you are looking for.

If you get the single led style beware that the whole housing for the led is metal and can cause a short if inserted into the holder hastily, I should imagine, not that I would be stupid enough to do it myself you understand.....
