[Mk2] [Turbo] Screamer pipes

Post by Ryan S »

has anyone come up with an easy solution for a screamer pipe on the ct26 yet???

i really want one!!!

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zWGe3T7kMZQ

sounds awsome!!!

i've read all about the wastegate/external wasgate stuff ](*,) , i i'm not asking how it can be done or what i need,

i just want to know if anyone has come up with something for the standard turbo that i could buy and fit???

cheers, Ryan. :thumleft:

and i know, "it sounds daft", "it's silly", "turbo noise is better". ](*,)

from what i've read, if the turbo has an internal wastegate then the screamer pipe is useless/you don't get the same sound as with an external wastegate.

the problem is that both the exhaust exit and the internal wastegate both flow into the same chamber so the wastegate gasses are not completely cut of from the rest of the exhaust gasses (if that makes any sense at all)

that's waht i've got to offer anyway, sure people with have different opinions, but i'd recommend listening to a car that has a screamer pipe fitted to an internally wastegated turbo, like the XS ones on ebay, and seeing how you liek the sound of that, only heard a few on youtube and they sound stupid, but i agree with you that a proper screamer pipe sounds \:D/

but has anyone come up with something a could buy that has all this done??

i know the divorced downpipe is tricky business(to me anyway!!)

i.e. something ai could just bolt onto my ct26, possibly in exchange for my unmodified wastegate.

No. Afraid not.

To use a screamer pipe, you'll need a different turbo and external wastegate. The screamer then vents from the wastegate.

CT26 are internal wastegate, I dont think theres much you can do. It will just have a downpipe that splits at the exhaust turbine and the waste gate so their gasses can go down different paths. It can be done, but I dont get why you would want to, the sound isnt all that good, and its not going to sound as good as a proper external wastegate setup. And it still wont be cheap.
