Yep, i think we are going to go for it as the price difference is nominal after all..... it'll mean just 3 huuuuuuge party poppers now instead of 8   , Jinx

Our ferry is booked also...

£70 as I bought a flew ticket for both directions (just in case)

Prices are still £29 for basic ticket
and £35 for flex ticket

Same price I paid last year!

Hi All,

I have rang just tickets today. They currently don't have any tickets available for general admission or for the car parking.

The prices on the website are still showing as 2008. As soon as the date changes to 2009... we can buy tickets.

If everyone could keep their eyes peeled  and keep an eye out. I will be able to ring them as soon as they are available.

So far I have confirmation of white car parking tickets bought through the lemon club website as...

1. Dan Morgan
2. Michael Sheavills
3. Pete Hartley
4. Chris Roy
5. Mark Jones
6. Jinxy
7. Dan Lodge
8. John Griffith

The idea is that with me taking a group booking.. we should be able to get all our parking spaces together. \:D/

Blimey, we are getting organised early this year...

I'm all booked on the ferry, flex tickets both ways for only £60!
I just clicked on the superticket - travel for £30 link... 8)

Guys, we’re just trying to get your feelings about the 2009 bolt-on trip.

I’ve been doing some tinterweb research and a possible suggestion is:

*leave Le Mans on Tuesday and head for Reims, Champagne (about 200 miles). Stay in Reims 1 night
*leave Reims on Wednesday and head for Ghent, Belgium (about another 200 miles). Stay in Ghent 2 nights.
*leave Ghent on Friday and head for ferry in Boulogne-Sur-Mer (about 100 miles).

Obviously we need to check out routes, accommodation etc but before we start putting masses of effort into getting things sorted, we'd appreciate some feedback from you guys as to whether this is of interest.

We’re gonna speak to Pete’s Mam and Dad tonight; they have years of experience travelling around Champagne so they might be able to recommend some nice places to stay.

This is just an idea, we are open to suggestions but you'd better get in quick cause time is ticking!!

What's in Ghent? Is there anything particularly special about the area (or Belgium in general) that leads us towards staying there? Haven't got a clue about that area at all, sorry

Not really Dan, just know it's a big place in Belgium that is reachable distance from where we are going/need to be.

But anyway, things have moved on from this!!

We’ve discussed it with Pete’s parents and as we said, they go to France touring 3/4 times per year on their motorbike so they know a thing or two.

We were thinking that on the Tuesday we could leave Le Mans and head for Rouen for 2 nights. Now i know you're all thinking "Rouen, wtf? Don’t we try and avoid that on the way to Le Mans?!" but Pete’s parents have just been to visit and they had an amazing time. There’s lots to do in terms of cathedrals, Monet’s secret gardens and museums etc (Joan of Arc was executed there) and it's really 'oldie worldie'. Check out their official tourist website http://www.rouentourisme.com/default.asp?ext=en

Then, for the final night before catching the ferry Pete’s parents have also suggested a town called Le Touqet. Apparently there's a famous beach there where they have lots of car rallying etc. and it's got reportedly fabulous nightlife with good bars, pubs, restaurants, clubs and casinos!! they also have a very informative tourist website http://www.letouquet.com/index_en.aspx
The beauty of this is it's literally 1/2 hour away from Boulogne-Sur-Mer so no lengthy journeys back to the ferry :thumleft:

Reims and Ghent were just totally plucked out of the sky and in hindsight, there's probably not an awful lot of point in going all the way to Belgium. We're told champagne isn't worth visiting if you're only doing a stop over as it's expensive plus you really want to spend 3/4 days doing champagne house tours.

Let us know if you like the new plan better, i think we do.

ah so at least it's pleasant :D would it really be a concern that there's nothing particularly of note there? there seems to be plenty to do according to their website (see link posted previously) including: casinos, the park of the estuary, day spa, nice bars, clubs and restaurants and even a water park! obviously you've been there so i couldn't pass firm judgement.

all we were thinking is it looks like a decent stop-gap place that seems to have sufficient night life to live our last night out in style. it would only be one night, the main event being rouen, and it's close enough to the ferry that there's no rushing around on the last day.

we do appreciate the feedback though, so keep the debate going so we can agree something.

Pete/Reema,

Top work thus far! some great research there, personally I'm sitting on the fence for this one, taking a back seat, as I'll be happy to go anywhere with you guys. Honestly for me it doesn't really matter where we go or whats there coz in reality I know we will have the best time wherever we end up!

I'm liking the idea of Rouen, we can try and find parts of the old historic, original racetrack, the birthplace of F-1, theres a lot of motoracing history in and around Rouen. I've only seen the cathedral from over my shoulder whilst zipping through on the way down to Le Mans, Jo's been there and she loved it. How about just staying in Rouen for 3 night's, when we went to Brugges we did 2 nights and it just wasn't enough! Rouen to the ferry is about 2 hours drive which is more than manageable.

Keep it going guys.

All sounds really good, I like the idea of finishing the holiday off in a casino :thumleft: Quick question, if I book my ferry tommorow and then decide to bring a mate along last minute, how easy is it to get another person on that ferry?

If you've got a flexi ticket it's dead easy. Dunno how much they charge if you've not though...

I do think there is an additional charge, I think you pay the same price for car and up to 6 passengers. It might be easier to book your mate now as it won't cost anymore cash, if he doesn't decide to go then it's not a problem.
