Aerial is trying to go up and down but making a horrible noise instead. It will go down with help and comes back up ok. Mast has been replaced but not motor. Any ideas?

They work becauses there is a coiled strip of hardish nylon that pushes up as it unravels from the motor. they loose friction inside the ariel over time and won't pull it back down. try some WD40 all along the length whilst it's up.
Not sure about the MK2, but i managed to find a whole new motorised unit for my mk1 from maplin for about£25. just had to bend the supplied bracket to a right angle instead of straight and everthing else just plugged in.
I'm sure it's a slightly different unit but if you take the old one down there you should be able to match it.
