More on Induction Kits - K&N this one!

Post by PJ3074 »

Looking at getting a K&N for a MK1b, been looking on ebay and they are around £80 landed, where as the one's advertised for the MK1a are about £30 notes cheaper

Is it possible to put a MK1a K&N I-Kit onto a MK1b as a straight fit :?:

or will I be wasting my time and add to the ever increasing bills I'm lashing out on at present......Thx, Paul

Only difference between the two is the extra bit of pipe that is placed beween the filter and the throttle body to allow fitment of the air temp sensor.

If you really want to save the cash you can leave the sensor outside the inlet system, it won't make a huge difference at it's sat in the air that the filter's taking in.

Why are they worth £180.00?

K&n perform better in tests and have better filtration.

Interesting read...well I'm not lashing out 200 notes on this, so the K&N seems to be a good all round bang for buck option...Thx :thumleft:

A wise choise in my opinion, you will not regret it. There is no increase in power but it does sound great :thumleft:

This is the difference a k&n and janspeed exhaust makes. The exhaust was leaking at the manifold though so i expect maybe a couple more bhp as the car is running better now the leak has been fixed.

The improved torque is due to the k&n and it also smoothed out the flat spot around 3k rpm.

Or a total rip off more like.

Surely anyone who pays £180 for an air filter must by definition have 'MUG' tattoed across their forehead.

They don't do much filtrating either. :-:

Avoid like the plague.

Definately not :-:
You gotta be having a laugh

£180 for something with really bad filtration. I'd rather run my car with a pair of nylon tights streatched over the airinlet than one of those

TBH, you could probably use an old pair of fishnets, and get better filtration than a Blitz........!

got to agree with this one £180 for a filter !!! It would have to drive me around for that ! The K&N filters have been around for longer than I can remember  they have proved to give superb filtration in all conditions. they are use by many top rally and race teams. you wont find a better filter for the price, any price infact.
