I get excited, 'cos there aren't many of them where I live, so I rarely get to see just how cool they actually look motoring along lol
but, I also find myself (almost to the point of crashing) trying to get a look at the rear arches, does anyone else do this or am I the only freak?
what do you do when you see another one...?

I wave and flash (the lights) in a frantic manner.. I rarely see any other Mk1s.. one a month at the most!
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.
Re: what do you do when you see another one...?
I flash and wave. Normally nothing happens.
Or I flash and wave and then realise I am in my Pug and they think I am insane.
Or I flash and wave and realise I am on foot and get arrested for indecent exposure.
I rarely get a response regardless!

I am going to live forever, or die trying!
Re: what do you do when you see another one...?
I only seen two so far since I had mine.
One was in the city and I was on foot so couldn't do anything and the other one was in a traffic jam in the opposite direction so
Flashed my lights etc though.

If I see it in time, I wave
Sometimes I get a wave back from a Mk1, rarely from a Mk2, and never from a Mk3

Re: what do you do when you see another one...?
I wave casually but actually I'm really excited and want to go for a thrash in convoy.
Ditto Mart G's comments about responses, though the level of mods on a Mk2 does seem to be proportional to the likelyhood of a return wave.

MK2 drivers are probably too busy waving at Probes, and MK3 drivers, well.... lol
in New Zeakand I saw one coming and got the coach driver to flash and honk, the coach driver thought I was weird (probably right) but the MK1 driver almost left the road when he got honked in his ear lol
Re: what do you do when you see another one...?
I've only seen one while in mine, I popped the headlights and they waved back.
If I see one any other time I give them a thumbs up but don't always get a response (understandable I suppose)
Don't really bother with mk2's and 3's as you see them everywhere.

Re: what do you do when you see another one...?
I actually flashed at a probe the 2nd day i got my car guess i was too excited to pay attention!
Re: what do you do when you see another one...?
I'm yet to see any other MK1's whilst in ours, I would flash the lights though definately.
I don't think flashing a MK1 whilst in the Yaris would work somehow really

Re: what do you do when you see another one...?
In nearly 4 years of mk1 ownership i have only ever had one other mk1 that hasn't flashed its lights or given a thumbs up every other one i've seen always gives a frantic wave or a flash of the lights.
I also end up looking at the arches, esp. if ones parked up somewhere with the thought of " i wish my car was in as good condition as that one"

Happens to me too.. did it just the other day whilst driving my dad's car - the Mk1 driver looked at me as if I was barmy
Re: what do you do when you see another one...?
I always wave if i can - think the last time i did it i defo got a wave because it was jo in her blue supercharger - that was some time ago now - dont think ive seen one since then while ive been in my mk1
Re: what do you do when you see another one...?
Always check out the condition/mods etc of any Mk1 I come across. I usually get odd looks cos I'm driving a white Gen 5 Celica.
Can't wait to get the Mk1 back on the road.

Ask them if they need a hand fixing it!
Re: what do you do when you see another one...?
I normally end up shouting...LOOK its a MK1 and then get that typical woman type stare they do from me Mrs.....
I always do the thumbs up though, its such a class car

I never see any mk1's local, see a fair few mk2's who usually put their foot down and hoon off without a wave or flash.
(Might have something to do with seeing some loony female flapping about waving in a clapped out purple polo though)
Re: what do you do when you see another one...?
I see a mk1 every work day on the way home and flash my lights and wave...
Its my other half driving back from work in the NA, sometimes she has ignored me or given me the finger.

Only owned it 10 days, yet to see another but will raise a hand if I do.
Wouldn't bother flahsing headlights as they take too long to pop up.
