[Mk2] [Turbo] Hux racing big brake kit

Post by oBladeo »

Well on friday looks like i'm going to be ordering the hux racing big brake kit. With both sets of disks (scalloped and grooved so i can swop them over when needed)

Has anyone else fitted this kit? Is it any good?

Dont know myself mate but if it were me I wouldn't order till I'd heard some positive feedback. How much is the kit if you don't mind my asking? Only reason is have you thought of just uprating to rev2+ spec. You'll get a good 2nd hand set, calipers, discs and poss decent pads for about £250 and throw any leftover (£100ish) at braided lines and you'll get noticeably better performance over existing (I've just done this myself only this week but too early to really pass insightful comment though initial thoughts are excellent... we'll see when driven with ermmm, focus.)
Seems for most here standard brakes and good pads are fine. Many say grooved discs destroy pads and rather than disperse gases through the 'slots' better to just not generate them initially by increasing temp dissipation... the larger discs/calipers aid this and braided lines should reduce fade.
Just my thoughts for what they're worth. Good luck with it.

It’s costing about 2k in total and that doesn’t inc import tax

naaa I need some more stopping power than the rev2+ brakes and I’m fed up with the Toyota ones seizing

the kit incs

all SS braided lines, fully functional e-brake, Wilwood 4 piston billet calipers front/rear, upgraded master cylinder & proportioning valve, scalloped rotors (optional round rotors available) front/rear, & Wilwood e-brake caliper

Scalloped rotors will shave @27-42 lbs of rotational weight. Scalloped rotors are suited for drag racing and street application.
Round rotors suited for road racing conditions.

As said I will be getting both sets of disks

If you've got 2k to burn why not get hispecs? You could get a full car kit for that, they're pretty well proven and have dust seals on the pistons.

I would say that a car running new standard discs and carbotech pads on all corners would brake just as well as those.

thats because thats point of groved discs, to wear away at the surface off the brake pad, to help prevent brake fade. nothing to do with disperse gases or cooling.

the drilled part of the disc to assisit with cooling

Yes they do Alan. Both Jonno and I had them fitted in the past. Although as has been mentioned, they now produce a full kit for this. We had to make up spacer plates, to allow the stock caliper to fit the disk.

See the rears on the Beast.

So what do you think to the D2 8 Piston Brake kit? Can you see any issues with this?

OR

Just add really good pads and disks to my rev1 calipers and buy the full tein setup in the for sale section

depending on the swept area of the caliper 8 pots might be overkill and of no benefit over a well designed 4 pot
