[Mk2] [Turbo] Over 200mph on a std gearbox???

Is this possible? A cchap on another forum says he has done this (big power 2) and i'd like to know the ratios ect

from what i have heard i think about 170 is about normal on a standard gearbox. i cant see the ratios on a standard box taking you anywhere near 200mph.

what does his car rev too? i suppose if his car revs to 11000 rpm than maybe

Well it's running 2.6bar, and is Shahids. Whilst I'm certainly not calling him a liar he did say it was over 200mph and i'd like to know the ratio's to find out if that's possible at all. I've also asked what equipment he used to get that speed and if there is a printout etc.

He is redlining at 10k so it is possible. He's also running massive tires on the back so that would help with ratios too.

even 1.0 bar of boost feels powerfull, 2.6 must be insane

You can put the diff in from a Celica ST165 GT4 which has (as far as I can recall) a longer ratio than standard which will allow for a higher therotical top speed but of course you need the power to overcome the air resistance.

I'm guessing with 2.6 bar there's enough power

I know its not quite the same but didnt TopGear do a challenge where viewers brought along cars to do over 200mph? IIRC Fensport submitted a very highly tuned corolla or something and that ended up having mechanical troubles.

I think it was a bloke in a Sierra and wearingt a cardigan who was the only one who could do it LOL

Fensports corolla has at some point broken the 200mph barrier, don't know gearbox it was though.

yes you can hit 200mph, with an st165 final drive ratio and moderately large wheels (235/45x17) and a rev limit of around 7750.
