right the mr2 rev 1 wont run properly it fires up just about. wont tick over and with full thottle runs at 800rpm but sounds like its running on 2 cylinders. really lumpy and bad. you cant drive it or rev it or anything really.
i have put on leads, cap, afm, checked compression 160 on all 4, put on more earth wires,
i have a spark at every lead i have fuel on the retun pipe to the tank.
no fault codes on ecu, fresh petrol in tank,no air leaks, i am lost now
ideas any one? i treid a rev2 ecu on car and it does not work it made the fuel pump run the whole time by the sounds of things and did not start either.
thanks in advance max

if it is timing its as though its gone miles out.
the spark is not that strong really to be honest it will jump a bit but not that bright when testing against rocker cover bolts.
leads go 4321 from left to right from the back of the car correct. and on correct numbers on cap.
i have also checked all fuses, but not relays.
does the petrol return back to the tank when cranking the engine over or only after you stop?
i cant really here the pump at all now!

first off turbomax - delete this thread or ask the admins or move to the mechanical section, it really is the height of arrogance / ignorance to clog up a forum with inappropriately placed posts shouting help me. carrying on like that will not get you help it will only get you up peoples noses.
while you are undoing your transgressions cluttering the forum delete the duplicated post entitled worlds sexiest women in the general section.
now to be helpful - once you have done that, try opening the dizzy cap and checking the rotor arm is sitting on its seat properly and screwed in tightly.
if that doesnt work, open a thread in the mechanical section and tell us the complete history of the brake down. did the car start mis behaving after you swapped some parts over, did it splutter and die on the way home from work one night, did it work till you parked it up for a fortnight while yo were on holiday?

You said you removed the air flow meter? If its not plugged in properly you'll have the problems you've described. hopefully you didnt unscrew the screws on the AFM, if you did, you'll need to get yourself a new one, as that one wll be screwed. Clips to be used when remoing AFM and you shouldnt have to remove it.

Hello Max
Have you tested the coil/ ignitor pack? Mine is breaking down and runs like you describe when ever it gets wet.

seeing niks idea reminds me of when i was younger and dafter - if that is possible - i de-greased my engine with cilit bank and a hose drowning my eletrics in the process...
the motor ran like a bag of nails till we dried the ht leads out abut ten tiimes lol
anyways... like i said maxa little more back ground information would be alot more helpful than calling me a twit
which reminds me...... i quit. see my next post.

it is possible the timing has jumped a tooth ive seen it happen and would cause it to appear like its running on half the cylinders or extremly sluggish it mite be worth just lining the cams and bottm pulley up and check the timing marks just to make sure.
this probably not the problem but ive seen stranger things happen so it is worth checking.
hope this helps
