Hi Nick,
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Have a look in the storage compartments behind each seat.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
If there are grills at the front of these storage compartments, then you have the active sound system, which, if I'm right in saying this,
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(please correct me anyone if I'm wrong) means you have two subs tucked away in those storage boxes, which in turn, means you have factory fitted amps behind the rear 1/4 pannels
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(where the seatbelts are).
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Mine is a UK REV 3
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
& that had the twin sub set up
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
& yours is 2 years younger than mine, so yours should have it too
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I've just installed my stereo
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
& you'll be very lucky to find an aftermarket amp that will fit behind any of the pannels in the cabin
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
No point in getting OEM Toyota amps IMHO as if you're going to be installing an amp
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
& a sub, you may as well get a decent one
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
As for sub boxes, I do have a spare drivers side box.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
It's one of these
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
& it's just sitting in the livingroom if you're interested
![Question :?:](./images/smilies/icon_question.gif)
It's for a 10" sub.

PM me if you want to know more.

I'm currently using the same box as above, but for the passenger side.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I'm thinking of changing that also, but undecided yet, so both could be up for sale
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I've got a 10" JL 10Wv3
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
& it's in a sealed box as the boxes for sealed units are smaller than ported boxes,
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
& as you know there is not a lot of room in the cabin of an MR2
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Size of speaker depends on what music you're into
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
& how loud you like it really.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I went for a 10"er as I like a variety of music.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Anything from Rock to dance, R
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
'n' B to hip hop to pop.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
A pair of 8"ers would be good as the boxes wouldn't have to be that big.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Some OC members on here even have a pair of 12's behind their lug holes
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Again, it's all down to your taste of music.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Where abouts are you based?
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Hope this is of any help
