Hi Guy's,
Has anybody at this forum tried one of GT Chris's GM Knock sensors. My tubby wont make full boost in 1st,2nd & 3rd gear?, and I read some where that Toyota knock sensors can be a litle sensertive espicley when they get old. Just wanted to find out if anybody had one and what there thoughts were..
Cheers...............

I've had two of them, they are great cos they're cheaper than the toyota ones . as for being more resilient, well i still managed to blow one, but that may not have been the sensors fault!

Are you managing to obtain full boost (10psi) through all gears?

Re: Knock Sensor's
how do you know when the knock sensors blown?
Re: Knock Sensor's
your orange ECU check engine light will come on.
Running the diagnostic check would reveal an error code of 52 if there's a problem with the knock sensor circuit.
(ps there's a post in the mechanical section I put there yesterday covering this orange warning light)
This check light isn't exclusive to the knock sensor of course.

The check engine light comes on at over 2000rpms when you are driving, and on my old Mk2 Turbo it drives really, really sluggishly until you come on boost and then it takes off like a scalded cat.
The Error code tells you its the knock sensor.
FWIW I replaced my knock sensor on my Rev2 with one from a Rev3 - they're cheaper, but you need to solder a tag wire onto the sensor as the connector is a different between the Rev2 and Rev3 cars.
