[Mk2] [Generic] Is the mk2 aggressive?

Post by dawolf »

I've been wondering about people's opinions of the mk2's image in terms of whether it is an aggressive looking car or not. I do think that rev 3's onwards look more aggressive than rev 1/2's from the rear with the more stern looking rear lights and spoiler. The front I'm really in two minds about. It does have a low, aggressive type of stance although it does look a bit 'smiley' and when the lights are up some might see it as being a bit tame. I think Jap style number plates help it to look that bit more menacing.

Don't get me wrong I love the looks of the mk2 and probably wouldn't change it but just wondered what people thought and how other car owners might view it.

In stock form I don't think they look too menacing, but with a nice kit they def do.

I've been driving a mates car and seen mine behind me in the rear veiw mirror and they certainly do have alot of road presence if done right IMO

Yeah I think they certainly have a presence and I always find that other drivers are courteous to me, for example I never have to wait long before people let me pull out. When I occasionally use my mum's Ka it is a different story.

lol.. I drive my mums Ka sometimes.. what a beast that is!!

I had some guy in a Teg rag it past me cause I beat him off the lights (not even intentionally he was just obv not paying attention and was slow to pull away) I just found it funny how he felt the need to bomb past me.. obv felt threatened by a girl driving a Ka

I'm a little bored of 'aggressive' looking cars to be honest (see all new Peugots, Mundanos etc). They all look the same now. Elongated lights, sharp lines. Go-faster rear lights. List goes on.

My mate recently forked out around 15 grand on a sporty Corsa with something like 180BHP and said (boasting) 'Its quicker than your MR2 you know'. My answer to him was 'Yeah, but its looks xxxx. You've got a McCar'

At least you can pick an MR2 out from the crowd. And at least its got style. MK1 and MK2's.

But my answer to the question is yeah, i thnk its aggressive enough. At least it wasn't designed by a Ferarri-hating soft touch like the MK3.

I'm gonna get a pasting by all the MK3 owners now aren't I 8-[

Actually theres not much difference between even the VXR which is 192PS and a Rev3 NA....

0-60 6.8s
Top Speed: 140mph

lol.... Mine should keep up fairly well as it's a nice mix of parts... Rev1 chassis, Rev3 engine and Rev2 gearbox lol :thumleft:

Am in 2 minds about the lights as i do think the rev3 ones look better but the rev1 lights look good if your going for a bit of an old school look :thumleft:

Just to echo the point about courtesy, I've been driving the other half's Skoda Fabia around while the Two is out of action and I can't believe the number of people that cut me up, pull out in front of me, etc. It's like they see a Skoda, assume it's not going to be moving fast, and fancy their chances. I never get this in the Two.

I love that the Mr2 get you respect, everyone lets me out at junctions etcetc. And the best bit is when a Boy racer pulls up next to you thinking he can embarress you then he see's the turbo sticker and sets off real slow at the lights :)

lol people do let you out at junctions when driving the 2, makes a nice change :D

Surely the rev 5 spoiler is the most aggressive standard spoiler, it's even called 'combat'

... Just look at all the cars out there, the Escorts, the usual, they all look the same (As previously said), with the sporty versions simply being uprated standard versions and then you have the Mk2 Mr2. There are a few colours that mingle into the crowds of cars out threre but If you 'do' have a nice car, then people do like to let you out.

I think the exhaust makes a difference in the 'evil', 'not evil' looking debate. I have a single exit exhaust and that screams 'modified'.

Either way, you might be able to jump in a Vectra or Escort and throw it al,l over the place as it's an 'easy' drive, but the MR2 offers far, far more, evil or not

Going on the last point made, the mr2 is in its nature evil. I was once asked why dont you drift it lots my answer was cause its all going well then a mr2 will bite your head off! a car deserving respect!

The stock mk2 is not aggressive at all IMO. However it does look very purposeful, sleek and sexy.

Tbh I've never really understood why anyone would want an 'aggressive' looking car, aggressive normally = ugly!!

I don't think my car looks particularly aggressive, it wasn't the intention anyway. Yes I think it has presence and enhances the good points of the stock shape. I guess I'm more about making it look even more desirable :-k

Buy one of those bad boys, which I have, and have it on fuill time (Mine's off until I get some kind of switch)

People standing next to your car step away.
It scares kids, cats and small dogs
My Mum doesn't like the noise
Feels like your car is going to take off
