Had the day off today to catch up on paper work and had a quick looks through some of your logs.
Definatly looks like there is an air leak, cam timing or wastegate issue James. As even if it was retarded lots it wouldn't really effect this. Mind you if we retard it enough it will act as an Antilag and then spool up alright
As you can see the fueling is bang on
This is a pull in 3rd at 12psi, Doesn't make 12psi to 4600rpm...

Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
Ryan,
We need to get the plots offf CHarley for 1.0bar first then have a look at what changed, its a pity we didn't get any logs at 1.0bar. I could go into the advanced boost control and set it back to 1.0bar and see what happens? I can run a log of a 10min drive on/off boost. Its pretty easy to see how it spools then.
I don't think its a boost leak and its a 38mm Turbosmart gate? Let me get the leak check gear on and take things from there.
I can't see the cams being out, the guy who buit the car is the mints.
I will check everything though. I may even get some of my boost pipes hard welded as silicones are not the greatest.
Nathan,
I think I am going a bit less techy than that, just going to chuck on a couple of link ignitors and the coilpacks I have from a fireblade. The firblade packs are higher resistance than the R6 ones I also have which have been blamed for ignitor failures in the past due to low primary resistance.
Lots to do and play with as yet so fingers crossed.

Will get it retarded 6'
By the way I have noticed my manifold to turbo gasket is blowing so have a new stainless one ready to fit.

Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
Well a bit of an update after a long time away.
The car has never really run how I wanted it to, and combined with that I have had a couple of missfire issues. To cut a long story short the whole of the ignition system has been replaced, and I couldn't find any problems so bit the bullet and shipped it up to the guys at YVS.
Simon and Roger have over the past few weeks fiddled around and sorted everything out, including fitting a Motec M4.
I have not actually seen the car but have been very impressed with their attitude towards the car, there helpfulness and flexibility. Simon has advised me of all the changes required and asked me about each change I would like to make. In fact I asked him to test the car to see what he thought of the car. He was not impressed with the map and due to finding nothing wrong with the setup supported my approach of going to Motec.
The test will be when I am re-united this weekend and the car gets mapped by Dave Rowe. I am looking forward to seeing what results he can get.
Updates and a full appraisal of the work done to follow............

Look forward to the latest results - know you have been waiting a while to get her as you expect it. Much work plus time.
Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
YVS are a fair way from you, but ive been there myself and they are good
who mapped your car previously?
who mapped your car previously?
Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
They cam highly reccommended by a friend. I know there are probably other MR2 specialists nearer me but YVS are the only company I could find NO negative feedback on and who wanted to take on my problems.
Ryan from 2bartuning mapped it previously.

Ah so you are still out there somewhere mate. Glad to here the car may be finally getting nearer completion. Mine is dragging on a bit now and James and the lads are going to try and find out what let go after the rebuild. Hopefully it'll be done later in the year once it's not so busy for them and then i can look to get it mapped at last:) I'm looking forward to meeting up when they are both finally ready to go to the strip at last!
Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
Alright chap, never realised you were still about! Long time no speak. How's the missus and nipper?
I got my mapping started saturday, unfortunately it looks like the fuel pump is playing up. Was getting erratic fuelling and kept leaning at the top end. Didn't get above 0.7bar
The good news is it passed an MOT today and is running ok albeit on a very safe map. So no boosting for me until I get the the new pump in and get it re-mapped, but getting closer!
Defo have a meet up once all sorted. You'll have to get up to snertteron as I may become a track junky i'm afraid, hoping to go soon in fact.

Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
Glad to here it's finally all coming together mate. The family are fine. The little one is nearly 3 now would you believe it! I disappeared off the forum for a while when the car gave up again. The funds for the car were being swallowed up by a new house and small child so it took a while to get in a position to get it sorted again. James is going to get it sorted when they quieten down a bit and as theres no major rush i can gradually save to get the thing done right this time and with the power i'm looking for Just praying it doesn't go pop again before tuning or i think its in the bin time!
Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
I'm sure you'll be alright this time mate. Mines been off the road a while and to be honest it's not seen much driving in quite a few months. Theres loads of bits need doing and i'm not happy with the paint, its got a few chips and scratches now.
Don't seem like five minutes ago you were round with your young lady expecting!
Decided to just track mine a bit for now and really get some enjoyment, then get it looking pretty for next year. I've kind of gone off car shows now anyway so no real reason to have it immaculate other than for me to look at.
Keep me up to date and let me know if you need anything.

Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
I figured it was about time I posted up with a thanks to YVS. Simon sorted out my car in a speedy manner to a very good standard. He took the car on without seeing it knowing it had a problem I had been unable to bottom out. All the work is neat and tidy and he even made good some of my handywork. The price was very agreeable despite having to use a trailer to get to him.
Simon's a great guy to talk to, very helpfull and always happy to have a chat. In fact we had a natter last night about my car and the way forward after the dissapointment of the fuel pump failing during mapping. I'd have no hesitation in reccomending his services to anyone.
Unlike many people I have had experiences with he doesn't give you any bull and will tell you it how it is. He is happy to do whatever you ask of him, but will let you know if he thinks theres a better or cheaper way.

Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
Well as per my post in Modifications except my page now works??
I had my car mapped by Dave Rowe last night at Rapid GB in Wellingborough.
Dave started with about 10runs at 10PSI to check everything over and get things right. He then went for 1bar and we made 311BHP, not bad we thought. We then let the car cool down a bit and had a natter.
After cooling a bit more runs and increased boost to 1.4bar at which point we were well into the 400's. Smiles all round at this point, again temps were getting up and we wnated to let the car cool a bit before the next onslaught. At this point Dave pointed out a few issues on the map and where the torque was an suggested slightly raising the rev limit and having a play with getting the torque in earlier. He also asked if I was confident with raising revs and the builds strength. Nod's all round and up went the boost.
The final setting was 25psi (1.72bar) and at this boost we hit a final figure of..............
509.6BHP and 467.6ftlb's of torque.
I was over the moon and Dave was well chuffed with the figures.
The car is awesome, grips really well, even gets the power down 1st and 2nd. Its almost too quick for road use now, as this is a lot more power than I had planned.
I have to give huge praise to Dave and Mark at the Rapid GB dyno, great guys, a great laugh whilst I was there. Their prices are very reasonable and Dave now goes under www.epsmotorsport.co.uk.

Very nice figures mate What cams are you on?
Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
Wow great figure.
Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
Rev2 exhaust with Rev3 inlet knicked from mate when he upgraded to 264's.
Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
mmmm
get that printout up
get that printout up
Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
Well done great result
Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!
Great result, and far exceeded your goal
What lovely figures
Lovely figures.
I would also recommend Simon and Roger at YVS,
they re-built my engine 3 years ago.........
and it is still running!
In all fairness they are good to speak to
and knowledgeable about their wares,
probably why there were another 3 or 4 3S GTEs' in at the same time.
