Here is a link to my page with dyno plots of my 4agze with Twinscrew blower.

Looks nice chap! Must be a fairly significant kick in the back side on acceleration. :)
Is that still running on a standard IC though?

4AGZE + Twin-screw = match made in heaven..! :D

Why Mr.T used the old Roots (besides good old financial reasons..! )

If they had fitted a twin-screw setup to the Mk1 in 1990, then they wouldn't have needed to bring out the Probe..!!!

This dyno is using the Big Blower with stock intercooler, ecu, and injectors.

This dyno is using the smaller blower but with bigger injectors, Air to Water intercooler, and Link ecu.

So Ron, can this just be a bolt-on addition to an SC? At least initially :)

I have designed this Blower to bolt directly to the 4agze in an Aw11 and drive off with more power. I just remove the inefficient stock s/c12 and replace it with a monster Twinscrew blower. When adding more boost, I never have to touch the crank pulley as we did with the stock blower. Pulley changes on this blower take about 15 minutes and are changed at the blower.

Ron, I've seen your thread on this over at the American OC site - very interesting reading (Linky here, but you have to be a member of MR2OC.com - it's a long (2 part) thread though, so I can't really copy it here). It looks to be a great piece of kit - I'd really love to see one 'in the flesh' and judge the performance based on SOTP measurements... ;)

Toni, it is set up to use the original IC, yes - with the option to replace with a CC setup if desired...

Blowers alone are 1500 dollars while the components necessary to bolt it to the 4agze is an entirely different story.

Thanks monkeymax! You can look at the dyno plots on the s/c dyno page and compare it to the Twinscrew at low boost and see there is a big difference over stock and a nice difference over heavily modded 4agze's.

Ron, that's seriously impressive! :thumleft:

One thing I should point out is that in the UK the bhp figure is normal quoted as a flywheel equivalent (for some odd reason) and not the real rear wheel horsepower figure. So figures in the UK may be approximately 20% higher than the figures quoted in the US.

For example my 4AGZE is running a 176mm pulley and is 128 rwhp. But the quoted hp is 176bhp (which is the questimate at the flywheel).

My only concern with your project is the longevity of the standard engine components. How many miles have you done running with these blowers?

When staying within the stock ecu parameters, the stock ecu is quite capable of proper fuel adjustments in most case over fueling even at stock boost levels. With that said, it is well documented by myself and others that the 4agze engine is quite robust. Once power is wanted outside the stock ecu parameters, it is very necessary to use a good piggyback computer or a full standalone ecu.
Remember, tuning and proper intercooling is the key to longevity with any engine and fortunately the 4agze is very well built.

I have about 5k miles on the Twinscrews.

Going to fit this A2W unit to the twinscrew and ditch the stock intercooler. Just going from 2 inch to 2.5 inch with the intercooler upgrade should produce significant gains.

Damn, is this the twinscrew kit from years back on the SC mailing list that someone was working on? (ie.. you .. Ron?). It finally came to fruition then?

SO, we know the cost of the blower but give us the total cost (DIY fit). And well done on the swap.

How does this work with an oversized pulley (176mm) which I already have fitted, would I have to source and original stock crank pulley to fit this?

And did you upgrade the fuel pump or was it an SC pump?

The intercooler is made by a local guy that distributes there after.

Yes, I am Ron from the s/c mailing list. It has taken sometime to design this kit as we have had several prototypes with this latest being the best and easiest to install using a massive Twinscrew compressor. I have not tested the bigger crank pulleys with the twinscrew, but I do not forsee any issues. We can simply offset the larger crank pulley with a larger s/c pulley to still give about 170-180rwhp stock. Also using the stock fuel s/c fuel pump.

We have priced the kit at 3550 for cars using their stock intercooler piping. 3400 for cars that wish to fab their own intercooler piping. We have not yet priced the kit with A2W as that will be down the road.
