It has now got to the point where I can install my 2 subs and amp. The amp I wish to mount as professionally as possible in the frunk.
Any pics of peoples installs etc etc and any guidance will be greatly appretiated.
Is there a template of an amp rack as such anywhere?
What wood did you use? Where have you sat your 'amp rack' etc?
Thanks
Reece

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Frunk Amp mounting
This is nick's mr2 from teamshock
It was done by D-Class
I tried a boot install but had heat problems and the protection kept kicking in. I've mounted the 2 mono amps on the back wall inside the car and made custom boxes that fit behind the seats. I also cut out the boxes that were behind the seats and mounted the 3rd amp under the bonnet with the 3 power caps.
Sorry not got pics of mine atm

WOW that looks stunning
Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Frunk Amp mounting
Yea does look good
Prob is it's all looks and not much use. The amps will over heat when in real use and also he needs to make a cover for the perspex so it don't get damaged.
It belongs to this car

Cool idea on the frunk mount.
Personally I would make it into a box so that only the actual units showed rather than all the wires as well.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Frunk Amp mounting
Dan -> Does that install make it an utter pain in the ar$e to get the spare wheel out? I've got a frunk install (pic in my garage) that I did myself based on the stephenmason.com link, but I made sure I can get it out quite easily to get to the spare and the battery etc... Problem is with 2 amps, a 2 farad power cap, fuse holder and distribution block it's quite heavy

Thats similar to what i've done for mine, albeit i've not bothered trimming it as nice. Just a thick sheet of ply with some aluminium inserts on the base which slot into the moonroof slots. Removed the plastic cover to show the frame, 3 clips in various points keeps it all held down nicely but can pull out the way when i need access to the wheel / battery. Also means i could install 2 amps - 1 on top and 1 underneath with room to spare!
