The tool *is* handy and does quicken the job although I found it somewhat fiddly.
Next best thing is an open ended spanner (15mm / 17mm?) pushed into the two recesses and then a large screwdriver through the ring of the spanner for leverage.

Depends how free the calliper is to turn. Normally ends up being either a 5 minute job or a 25 minute job per side.

I knew that post would come up (saw it on another thread)....... Just my oppinion but WTF -just buy the tool!!!!?????!!!! They're not expensive. They're fiddly for the first couple of mins -usually I find because I've got the wrong adapter plate in it or the caliper drops off the piece of wood it was sitting on -LoL!

i've always found a chisel and an adjustable spanner works fine, and saves you £25

Sounds like a recipe for impending doom.

the ones advertised on ebay are lazerline have to see how much thay cost, cheapest ive found on ebay so far is £19 for that same tool. only want to free up my nearside rear caliper as m.o.t tester said it was a bit slow just in case it gets any worse. looking at rebuilding calipers anyway and adding uprated brake lines and maybe crossdrilled/grooved disc's mind you ive read on here that brakes are quite good as standard with decent pad's in them :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

If you are going to upgrade the disks stay clear of the EBC ones, they are a major probelm.
