It's very difficult to suggest anything useful without giving people an idiots guide to how to break into an MR2.

Wild stab...
From underneath can you locate the pull-cord that opens the boot and give it a tug?

TBH, I have no idea if it runs anywhere that's accessable though.
You might have to take the rear wheel of and arch protectors to get to the cable.

Typically, the spare key doesn't operate the rear boot latch does it?

If you dont fully lock the boot use the lever in the cabin.

the boot is closed properly and the catch inside the cabin is not working so i assume it has come lose somewhere.

It would be easier to get into the drivers door then pull the boot release.

I was once in a simular situation (car running, keys in car and me outside). Clifford alarm locked the doors, strip of steel got me in by pressing the window switch.

Theres a guide but obviously not the window button.

Good luck!

Drive it to a locksmith and get them to try and undo it.

My boot lid was jammed down beacuse the release cable had jammed in its sleeve so even the key wouldnt work :-( I ended up drilling the barrel out then replacing it - not as expensive as you imagine :-)

http://www.flashmetal.com/cylinder--key ... -380-p.asp

Then £12.50 for a locksmith to match it to my other keys.

Doh! LOL

Either get a mobiole locksmith to copme to you (check price first!) or drill the lock to pop the boot then get a new one then have and have it matched along with a spare key!

All above is going to cost you about £40

There is a black plastic tab in the centre of the panel prettyu much where the lock catch is (not the barrel/lock). If you remov ethis and use something like a screwdriver and a good dose of patience you should be able to trigger the release mechanism and pop the boot.

I dont recommend the smashing the centre panel off method off though for rev3+ cars as the panels cost £80 so its cheaper to drill the lock. Fair dibs if its a honeycomb panel as you can get these cheap
