I spoke to him about the splitter and he really doesn't recommend them. He showed me his and he'd taken a chunk out of it that morning. It was effectively trashed after that. I'd personally like to spend the money on parts that are less likely to get FUBAR.

ARC air box shouldn't be a problem. Nothing should be a problem, but remember that there would need to be a donar, which is where a lot of these things will struggle to get off the ground. Bonnet isn't a problem cos I have one spare anyway. Wings etc can be sourced for small cost, as can most panels. Things like airboxes etc would need a car with the specific set up to be delivered so they can model on it, or so I would think.

My idea is to leave this running for a while longer and then make up a list of the suggestions and see which ones are worth taking forward.

Cool cool. I'm thinking I might be able to sort a few out too. I think they would look to do a couple of weeks turnaround time depending on size of order, complexity of parts etc.

would be worth finding out how much they are mate for sure. And then if you're wanting to go ahead and don't mind that initial out lay, then yeah, pick one up.

just been reading and to be honest i have never been a carbon fan, not because i dont like it because i think it can look amazing but because i can rarely afford it, however i am very interested in a few of the ideas,
how about the rear window surround with the built in brake light????
also carbon door handle surrounds on the outside with carbon handle??
or even the door strips??
i am breaking my car at the mo so any bits that i have left i will by all means give3 to you guys for the prep work, keep it up sounds great :thumleft: :thumleft:

I will have a word about the doors. I would imagine the outer skin is doable and maybe even the strips, but would need to look at a car and see if it would look odd having somebits done and some not. As I've said before, they're happy to do one offs for those special parts.

Door handles would be tricky as you'd need to dismantle them and rebuild them. Again would need serious investigation.

Rear window surround, don't see why not.

T-Bars again would need dismantling, but as we've seen before, they can be done.

I've been considering either the OOParts and Ask Sport CF doors but I'm worried about how they'd fair if you were hit from the side in an accident with no roll cage. I assume they offer no side impact protection at all?

A CF door skin sounds good though.

I have the intention of losing the bump strips, so smooth CF doors & wings would be cool.

And I'm also interested in all the CF parts that madpsi have to offer :thumleft:

not that i'm asking for much

Can he cover existing parts of or the whole of the car?

Some of my paint is looking a bit tired, I could take in the TRD and he could cover it? Ask him if he could as I am currently looking at a respray on a fair amount of the car so this may be just as cheap.

Hey Ant,

Doors would need to be made out of Carbon Kevlar rather than plain Carbon Fibre. More impact resistance and flex and they wont shatter on impact. Just had some made up for the AE86 – as well as a load of other bespoke parts. The guy who has made my panels does it for various racing cars (Le mans – Rally etc) and said he wouldn’t make them in anything else just for driver safety?

They weigh in at 6kg a door and are double skinned (FRP inner skin). Only issue with doors is they are expensive so it may put people off – I reckon your looking at £800 for a pair. Ideally you would also want some form of side impact protection – roll cage door bars which further restricts your market etc?

Cheers

Actually Ant carbon skirt under trims would be nice, they could just be made to a set length and trimmed down...
