Cup Holder has arrived! (w/ pics)

Post by KrisMoyse »

Yes I know it's pathetic to get so excited about a cup holder (and draw might I add) but it's a very cool invention and I'm bored of having to change gear and drive with one hand while the other holds my precious diet coke lol

This is it...a total of £22.98 off Ebay (inc shipping)...see my other thread if you want one: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... highlight=

However...my question is this. How do I get the dash off to get this securely fitted? (pics would be great)

Obviously it has to be fastened in by screws in the side (see pic 5) otherwise when you go to pull the cup holder out the whole thing'll come with it lol

Any ideas? Anyone whos fitted one know how to do it? I know RabRs had one fitted...whats the best way to do it?

They bolt in the same way as a head unit dont they?

Steps 3-9 should see the trim off :thumleft:

Don't think so as the headunit has a cage that clips into the dash surround and stops it from moving/coming out.

This doesn't have anything like that so needs to be screwed in from the side...I think...hence the question

(note I haven't actually tried to fit it yet as haven't had time so I am guessing here)

Hopefully that'll work (Greddy-Matt) I'll give it a go, meanwhile any feedback from cup holder fitters (lol) would be very much appreciated

Fitting is a piece of p1$$ mate. Should take no more than 5 mins.

I normally drink bottles, so I find they sit nicely between the seat and the door. :thumleft:

Ah tushay... seems there was a simpler option than a 23 quid piece of plastic....drink from a bottle lol

Cool, thought I'd be easy I just like to double check on here first. Like I said, not had the time to go out and fit it yet so thought I'd do some research and check I'll be doing it right lol.

very difficult to get it wrong. It will all become clear once you've whipped off the interior plastics. :thumleft:

Kris, I bought one of these over 2 years ago for similar money, maybe a tad cheaper :-s

Quality is ok, the fact it has text on it annoys me (esp. "FREE BOX") and the aesthetic design is pants but suppose it does what it says on the tin

To fit is very simple, you need to remove the front facia (entire heater control front, will need to remove ashtray and gear surround first), remove the screws from the front of the brachets, pull the whole DIN area out and fit the new contraption. Then reverse.

Can't you just scrape the text off it?? If its anything liek japanese paint it will come off if you look at it hard enough.

I think it would mess up the plastic underneath though, seemed pretty well stuck on :-k

Get some heat too it if its stuck on. If its painted, get a sharp blade and just lightly go against it to flick it off. I did it with the T-mobile on an old phone of mine as it was in gay pink.
