Agree.

Might be too late to go back now? but do you have any marks on the body, chunks missing out of tyres or kerbed wheels (that you already knew about)

Time to go back and say they wern't there when you dropped it off and must have been done by the monkey who took it without your permission and you want them sorting

Had another thought on this if there was any damage to the car and or other extreme wear I would be inclined to contact my insurance company and get their legal department to send them an invoice/claim!

Exactly request the manager takes disciplinary action. Or write a complaint to the garage owner. Details available from companies house I expect.

I am always scared they will put mine through the wall in the garage  even without the "test drive"

i feel for you. i had my car crashed into and i needed to get the rear bumper resprayed and the rear wing too.
i'd had it off the road for a little while due to lack of funds and some other problems with the car.

the body shop did me a good deal on the work and said it would take about 2-3 days, fitting it in around other bigger jobs. seemed fine to me.

then one night (about 2am) while i'm in london getting wasted with some friends i get a call from the spray monkey.

"i'm the town centre and i cant start your car" was his opening line!!

the rush of anger and then rage shot over me and i only managed to get a cople of words out as i kept changing my mind as what best to shout at him first.

to cut a long story shot, in the end he had driven about 25 miles in a 450bhp car with worn out sprak plugs, 95ron fuel used to limp it to the bodyshop, 2 bald tyres, 1 slowish puncture and a blowing exhaust manifold that was breathing hot exhaust gasses right at the rad!!

i knew he had ragged the xxxx out of it from cold too as he's had a few turbo cars himself (escort rst soft top, uno turbo) and he just unwond the bleed valve on his cars and floored it from stone cold. god help my motor.

i nearly killed him. instead i just went into the bodyshop the next day and told the manager all about it. the monkey lost his job as a result. thankfully my car took the kicking with no ill effects.

i know your pain. how can they have such little respect?!

i haven`t read all the posts but there is only one thing to do and thats is too phone the police and make an official complaint and ask for any/all charges to be brought against the offender and company, don`t let them get away with this...

hi mate,

i know of a good garage in the swansea area PM me if you want details, he did an engine swap for me and was spot on.

I've heard horror stories about that guy in uplands, stay well clear.

didnt realise there was so many swansea mr2 owners on here now. we should get a meet set up i reckon.

I have never had a problem with any of the local garages - I either know the owner or I hand them my business card for contact. When you hand over a solicitors business card with the words "Ask for Malcolm in the Litigation Department" your car comes back totally unmolested!

this is a constant source of worry for me, there are only 2 garages i use.

on the rare occasion i had to get mine MOT'ed at a place in town the same thing happened.

total disrespect for the car. came back with dirty handprints, a kerbed alloy and 9 extra miles on the counter from "brake testing" apparently.

point blank refused to pay for the MOT, my wheel was curbed round almost 50% of the rim

there were oil/greasy hand prints on the doors, roof, boot and interior.

the guy that tested the car was the biggest jockey going, he just didnt care.

They basically said the car is in for the test, left at my own risk, nothing they could do about it.

Didnt go down to well when i sat and phoned their head office while sitting in their waiting room with other customers and listed the problems.

Didnt pay, and left.

still have a curbed alloy.

Garages i use now are great, they always phone before they do anything to the car and they always ask if its ok to take the car out and test it.

plus they are both about 40 and restore old cars, so they are more interested in getting the job done properly.

Superb

Sorry to hear about this, I'd be livid if it were my car! It might be a trek but its that sort of thing that make travelling to a decent garage worth it.

Thanks for all your replies people, ive just left it for now. The car is not damaged in anyway and im sure that the mr2 owners of Swansea will not be using this garage again, as long as i know the garage wont be ragging other peoples mr2's again, thats good enough for me!
