[Mk2] [Turbo] water temp sensor part number

Post by raze tekniq »

Can anyone help me find a part number for a water temp sensor for my rev2 turbo. There's 2 of them coming out of the hard pipe coming from the resivor tank in the engine bay, 1's green and the lower 1 is grey/white. I've been on the epc sticky and there's nothing there I can see. Any help would be great.

Or if it's the green one you wanted, that's 89422-20010.

but the grey one is not the water temp signal.. temp for the cold start injector, but not the ecu or temp guage in the dash.

My rev 2 has two grey sensors. The one underneath the green sensor is the cold start switch (89462-20020), the one opposite is for the dash gauge (83420-16040).

The connector on mine is the same style as the other sensor connectors but yours looks a bit different. Maybe you've got a non-OEM part in there?

Anyway whatever colour it is, I think we can agree that the cold start sensor has two wires and the temperature gauge sensor has one wire.

yep, and the locations.....

but mmmm, that has got me thinking.....

thing is the sensor you can see on that pic was new from toyota like 2years ago! so the connecter hooking onto it must be correct??

have you or anyone else got a pic of what theres look like?

I'll take a pic this evening. The EPC lists two alternative part numbers for that sensor, looks like they used two suppliers (Yakazi and Nippon Denso). Don't know why the plugs on the loom would be different though.

Well I had a closer look and realised that the sensor isn't grey, it's just the connector.

Jim the sensor plug you have on your car I have only seen on Rev 1 cars N/A and Turbo, maybe it was changed at some point :?:

ChrisW the one on your car is the same as mine Rev 2 and I have seen this connector on many other Rev 2 cars aswell.

There must have just been a difference in manufacturer and/or across Rev`s I guess.

Perhaps the production line had just switched over to rev 2 and they still had a box of the old plugs to use up?

Well lads I'm totally lost, the sensor in question isn't in jimgts's pic, it would be in the bottom left of the pic coming out of the thermostat housing at least I think that's what it is. The black pipe is covering it up. I've got the ignition sensor coming tomorrow so let's hope to God its the right one, anyone need a water temp sensor? :D
