[Mk2] [NA] Bonnet release cable problem

I cant open the bonnet because the release cable seems to be detached from the bonnet end ie is in the open position at the operating lever end; is it possible to reach the bonnet catch from underneath the car or what can I do to sort this out? Any suggestions gratefully received!

had same problem with mine i would pull the catch and nothing would happen even if pulled fully to almost snapping point, so rather then go all caveman on its ass (pyscho mode) i just went under steering wheel where the catch is and pulled the plastic off around catch so i could get in, turned out the cable was actually stuck on another peice of plastic behind it so i un-stuck it and worked fine from there. hopefully its something that simple with yours

Can I suggest PMd responses to this if anyone knows the answer - you don't really want to broadcast how to open the frunk on all MR2s from the outside on an internet forum!
