Seriously, though, that's quite an achievement!
Standard ECU or not?
Apexi induction kit & Mongoose exhaust are only performance modifications.
The time I got 46.72mpg was with the same setup but with a decat.
Re: [Mk2] [NA] Tubby owners read it and weep
Right, I've decided that I just don't believe you
How the hell does a 2.0l petrol engine return 48mpg????
Please show your working.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Tubby owners read it and weep
Well obviously it's not conclusive proof as for all you know I could've stuck some petrol in inbetween photos, but I didn't
and finally *just* before rolling up for petrol...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Tubby owners read it and weep
I take it you brimmed the tank and reset the trip counter and then brimmed it again when nearly empty to see how many litres/gallons you actually used to travel the indicated mileage?
Re: [Mk2] [NA] Tubby owners read it and weep
Nothing special I have had 42mpg from my Rev3 Turbo.

You, sir must be a liar too!!!!!
Seriously! How is that ^^^ possible??????
On long journeys at a very steady 70mph I get about 35mpg at best from my rev3.

Never have I ever been at all interested in my MPG.. If I burn £45 of fuel in a day, I'm happy as Larry as long as I had a good laugh for my money.
Pootling around afraid to press the gas too hard.. should have bought a Micra 998cc instead

agree mate, my polo is getting around 31 mpg so there is no way someone is getting 45+ from the two...
, reset your odometer, drive somewhere you know is a set distance..(check)..once done fill your tank to full, drive as you want for at least 100 miles , record the milage, fill up gas tank to the top again....then its a case of dividing how many litres you went through by how many miles you have done, blah blah...its very easy to work out how many miles to £1 of fuel or how many miles to the gallon...
anyway, i dont care about my mpg , just enjoy the car...lol
Re: [Mk2] [NA] Tubby owners read it and weep
I know how to get a mpg figure, trust me doing 56mph for hours on end gets me over 40mpg.
Re: [Mk2] [NA] Tubby owners read it and weep
This hasnt been my best but to show you.

It's not difficult

I don't drive like this all the time, would I have chosen a midengined sports car if I was obsessed with mpg - just like to see that given the right journey it can be economical

That's how I did it, after seeing your pics above - we should get together Slim, talk about pipes and beards and stuff
Re: [Mk2] [NA] Tubby owners read it and weep
Having owned virtually identical n/a and turbo'd rev 3 cars I can say:
1) 40+mpg in an n/a is straightforward when cruising
2) 40+mpg in a turbo is achievable and rare but no fun as it involves not using the turbo at all really

Is that sat right in a lorry's slip stream? Fair play if you've got 40+

More like a very hot summers day behind a lorry. Its not like I drive like that all the time. I either do 56 or 90 as in between does my ears in after a while and more often its the 90.

I must be doing something wrong then - i only get 250-260 out of a tank, i think my best ever was around 260ish. As others have said - i got the car for its fun factor though!!!
Hey johnny - what are those dials you've got there - like the look of them, backlit?
