Just stumbled across this post somehow while searching for wheel arch repairs. Sounds great. Is the event open to anyone?

If you're looking for somewhere with ample parking and away from civilisation (well for Surrey anyway), there's some decent sized car parks in the woods near Peaslake. Don't know if that's in the area you're considering though.

Hey guys - such a good idea to organise an event like this! They're awesome fun :thumleft:

Someone mentioned near the beginning that this type of event is illegal - it isn't illegal BUT because it is a form of competition it is a licensed sport. A number of motoring clubs across the country run this type of event on a regular basis but everything has to be organised and governed through the MSA - http://www.msauk.org/site/custom/home/d ... chapter=22 . You can run an event without going through the MSA but your insurance and the police aren't going to look too kindly on you if you hit someone or something. All of the roads get 'vetted' to ensure suitability and safety (i.e. they shouldn't go past schools!).

Just a word of warning but they are excellent fun!

If you do hit something you could always 'claim' that you were simply out for a drive. I'm not to sure how they'd prove that you were on an event..

Exactly, I don't think its an issue tbh, you just say it was a social journey... best not to announce it too much then hey

Not necessarily true... In my Uni rallying days we told the local police force of all our routes and not once did we ever get stopped by a plod car!

At the roadster club we run a yearly treasure hunt, which is quite good fun.

Follow clues and find/count things etc etc then at the end we add up everyones scores. We give out some photos and ask where along the route you saw them. You do realy need a "co-pilot" heh

Pretty good fun, last years organiser was Stu (Kanujunkie) so im sure he would be able to give you a copy, if he still has one, as an idea of the sort of thing we did.

Good luck,
Phil

Will chuck my 187 & 186 OS maps in my bag. Just need to sort out which train station's nearest to Stuarts.
