Changed the coolant

Post by Tiger Tim »

Changed the coolant over the weekend ( replaced the water with coolant) & all went well. Followed the BGB. Took it for a spin & the needle never went above the vertical position. I noticed that when I put the heater on full to HOT, there is very little heat. Could there still be sone kind of air lock in the heater radiator. The fluid came up the hose as per the BGB.

Thanks,

Tim

It's possible there is an air lock in the Heater Matrix. Right PITA to get rid of in our track car

The heater matrix is the highest point in the cooling system. quite often it's where air gets caught.

The only thing you can do is to continue bleeding and burping the whole system.

The G is right - you can try having the coolant cap on, but only 1/2 done up and idle the engine with the heater set to full hot in order to try and push the air out.

Put a hose on the heater matrix bleed valve, open the valve.

wet n dry vac the hose to suck out some coolant and air.

Thanks for the replies. Any point in jacking the rear as high as possible while running engine with heater on full & the rad cap half opened?.
