[Mk2] [Turbo] how easy to swap from GT3071 to GT3582?

Post by Owen @ Kent Car Craft »

This is going to sound completely reversed to what i have been building for, but:
My external wastegate is vented through my drivers side vent.
With this in mind, how much work would i be looking at to swap to a GT3582 in the future?
I also run V'Band also.
Any ideas peeps?

As long as they're both t3 footprint and same outlet style they exhaust will mount straight up. I would also think that the oil and water feeds would be the same. And from pics I've seen the compressor housing looks very similar, if not the same. I don'tthink you'd have much trouble swapping between them.

What I was thinking Ant. I'll be fitting mine as soon as it arrives from across the pond, and the fit is more or less a straight swap. :thumleft:

Its a proper motorsports place up in Lincoln. :thumleft: Not quite your local tuner, but their work seems top notch. Not sure on price yet though.

From what Tim has told me, they come in various footprints, but the T3 is by far the most common, which is what my GT3071 and GT3582 are. Hence it being more or less a straight swap mate. Oil/coolant lines may be ever so slightly different location, but there should be no problem in fitting them.

I would be pretty sure yours is too.

The 35 is available in both T3 and T4, v-band and bolt-on exhaust housings.

I went for the T3 v-band for this very same reason - easily changable turbos.

are you all planning on running huge injectors on these GT35's ? Also, what are your thoughts on suitable fuel pumps ?

A GT35R at full whack is likely to maximise the limits of a Walbro. Upgrading to a Bosch 044 Motorsport / Aeromotive A1000 would be a better option! Or, better still go down the low pressure lift pump, high pressure in-line pump, swirl pot setup :D

GT35R - my injectors are pretty much at their safe limit - they are 800cc...(I mean there is no more room there and I need bigger!)

I have 870's in mine, and Dave has already said that they should be fine... for now.

really earl ? i would of thought 1000cc plus would be needed to get the best out of the turbo ?

think if it was me, i'd go the v8killer route of extra high flow pump and throw in some even bigger injectors.
