Brake piston rubber, hooooowwwwww much!!

Post by Deano2915 »

I Know this is probably the wrong forum but there's also a bit of banter involved. I'm changing my rev1 brakes to rev2 tyo try and gain some braking effect. All is going swimmingly however, the gaitor which goes around the piston (rear caliper) has split, so im out to replace it. I went to Auto Factors who can usually get everything, but in this instant couldn't, and i recieved the satanic words "MAIN DEALER". That meant a visit to the big "T".

I went in and as per usual was as polite as possible, gave him all the information i had about the brakes and about the fact that i was up grading.

What's the chassie number? He said

Dont know, but theyre are for a 93 j reg. I said

No chassie number, i can't help you. He said

(whith out trying to tell him his job) All MR2 brakes from 92 Rev2 onwards are the same. I said (having gained info from Rouge systems)Cheers Matt)

I'll have a look. He said

And by putting in the info i gave him and as though by magic there it was on the screen, but........You can't but it seperatly, only as a set with other items for caliper refurb (other gaitors and slides etc).

Ok i said how much (rubbers and slides can't cost that much..can they)? I said

£72.31, ex VAT, £84.96 with VAT. He said

HOOOWWWWW muchh

S, the reason i've posted this, is can anyone help, i'm after the gaitor for a rear brake piston for a J reg 93. (sorry no chassie number).

Cheers gang, Deano

I got mine from brakes international, as above.
Good quality and cheap as chips.

Note..
Toyota Caliper recon kits come with parts to do both calipers

A Brakes Int recon kits come with parts for one caliper only

In the case of Front Calipers - it's cheaper to get the recon kit from Toyota.
