Yep the exhaust is getting markedly worse so Im defo going to blueflame before the 30th so should be sorted. However another problem has cropped up again. I replaced my radiator and coolant last month and on the last run I noticed the temp gauge going down to just above cold and then back up to normal again for no apparent reason. Also on the stop offs when I started the engine again to set off the gauge was right down at cold as if the car had cooled right down in a matter of 1/2 hour which cant be right. Finally when the car was at normal temperature the radiator cap was cold? This cant be normal. I think it may be the temp sensor as it hasnt lost a drop of coolant. I think its just something I need to keep an eye on as I cant see it overheating when theres the correct amount of coolant in it. :?

Sounds like air pockets in the coolant system to me, or possibly an iffy connection for the temp guage.

I thought it might be some trapped air but when I refilled the coolant I took hours making sure the levels where correct in the service hoses and that the car was level. I had it on axle stands at the front and a jack at the back. I also used a spirit level as recommended by another user on here, to amke sure the car was totally level.
Im totally perplexed as to whats causing the radiator cap to remain cold/luke warm. Could it be a case of the coolant doing its job superwell?

Duff sensor mate. Mine did that for a while (often infrequentely) until it finally packed up! Get a generic one, Toyota price is a joke.

I thought it would be the sensor but as long as its in no danger of overheating then the new sensor can wait for a bit. I was quoted a price of £60 for a non toyota replacement

Could be interested. Anyone going from Nottingham?

Try and keep it on topic folks........ Start a new thread in the appropriate place if your having problems. If a picky mod spots this i will be forced to split it and move bits to mechanical..... which means work for me

So come on get some names down for this run...... its gonna be soooooo sunny this time :sunny: 8) :afro:

We did that last year and the fog was so thick you could only see a few metres ahead. Would help if certain people didn't black their bl00dy lights out as well!
