Im back.... and ive learnt my lesson

Post by leeharding »

Hello everyone,

I had an MR2 rev2 na 92 about a year ago and for no reason i decided to sell up and brought a Renault Clio 1.8 16v 1992. Why i done this i will never know ](*,) ](*,)

After selling the perfectly working MR2 i brought a perfectly working Clio 1.8 16v 1992, which i thought was a superb car at the time. Dont want to go into too much detail but this is what needed changing within 3 months of ownership:

- Full Engine Change as bottom end went
- Full Suspension change
- Various Coolant hose splits
- Both rear brake pads and disks
- Full exhaust change
- Gearbox was leaking fluid (at this point enough for enough) =;

oh and it drunk petrol like theres no tomorrow  so im back in the market for a 2 :D

anyway ive learnt my very expensive lesson and am back to buy a MR2 rev1 rev2 manual na will do me just fine 8)

So anyone thinking of buying this type of vehicle please make sure you have very deep pockets and have alot of time for repairs because they just arent reliable at all.

So who's sellimh there 2 :P

yeah they dont have the best of reps do they. had a 5 Gt turbo that lost its head gasket but then i had a Pug 309 Gti which went on and on and on and was probably the most chuckable fun fwd car I've ever driven.

I wouldn't have bought a pug before as I think they're horrible and rattly. Now I won't buy one on principle as they're pulling out of Coventry.

My brother has a 106 (as a runaround while he's putting a turbo in his Mini) and he couldn't believe the difference in build quality and finish between his 6-year-old car and my 14-year-old Mr Two. He's now planning to get a MR2 as his day-to-day car when he's finished with his completely insane tubby project...

I owned a 1993 clio 1.8 16v as my first car and its sounds like yours

It was great for the first week then after things went down hill.

I had a new head gasket, new engine, new clutch, new gearbox after I lost reverse, new aux belt, new cambelt, new leads, new spark plugs, new rotor arm, new dist cap, new brake pads, new rev counter, new sunroof motor, new track rod end, new battery and it goes on!

I spent around 3 grand in repairs in the year of owning
