permanent power loss after overboosting

Post by Martin F »

have a rev 3 turbo.been running higher boost for a few months now.somtimes overboost detected by ecu but after a recent overboost detection(34)ive lost more than half the cars power.boost gauge still reads 14 psi but every time i accelerate hard it feels like the car has 100bhp.the car still drives fine,ny ideas in what ive done as i am at a loss, with thanks :-k

How much boost are you running? If you overboosted say 18psi (fuel cut) the ecu will go into limp mode, and Im fairly certain will not create 14psi of boost in these conditions...

try en ECU reset and things should be ok, if so, by an FCD! should sort things out for the future.

if you are going to use a FCD on a rev 3+, you can only use a paul port one as fair as i know.

It sounds like your ECU is retarding your timing!!! I had the same issue, the car was screaming to go faster but was slower than an NA,

Get your ignition components changed and reset the ECU, James at 3s said that i had a misfire exactly how you have described, and every time they reset the ECU, the ignition components were retarding the timing!!
