Yet another new owner. . .

Post by mishadbull »

Hi!

I have been lurking and posting a bit over the past few weeks but just realized that I have not introduced myself yet.

I am Mike I guess that I am not the resident Yank (though I hail from Hawaii , Yank is a term for northerners and Hawaii is the southernmost state in the US) I just became a proud (if slightly maniacal) owner of a 1992 MR2 Turbo. I am in the process of returning the exterior to OE spec and then getting the internals sorted so that I can make some more power. I am looking at some modest mods to increase power to around 270 ish (flywheel) HP. I am looking at increasing boost on a stock turbo (may need a replacement then if so then it might get an upgrade at the same time) with a boost controller (probably manual dual stage) perhaps a unrated intercooler most likely a FCD of some type and perhaps some sort of intake exhaust combo. I am not sure this will get me to where I am thinking but that is where you all come in. I am currently looking to get rid of the 17X7 OZ Titans that are on the car now and get a set of either stock 5 spokes or a set of aftermarket 15's. Already have a set of Samco Hoses to go on as well as a new radiator. I have also already ordered a full set of ball joints to help out getting the handling sorted. Going to be getting a set of poly bushings all round and motor mounts too and am looking at struts as well. I am thinking Tokico Iluminas as I had great results on my VW Sirocco with them. Probably not going to lower the car as I have enough of a hard time getting in and out as is (I am 6'2" 190 lb.) Also already fitted is a set of Infinity 60.5 Cs Kappa's and an Alpine 9851R to get rid of the rotted stock speakers. I hope that tomorrow a Clarion SRV 303 sub will be going under the passenger seat. Sorry for the long post but I can be a bit wordy sometimes.

Edited to mention the short shift I have fitted. Got it off Ebay for 29 L delivered (sorry my US key board does not have that funky L) and looks like the picture on mr two uk site for 40L got rid of the crappy nob on my shifter when I got it. the PO had destroyed the threads on the shaft by using a set screw type nob on it. Now it is really short (bout 2" from 2-3 and almost flush with the center console). . .

Mike

Below are some pictures of the car as it was when I picked it up but be advised that they are huge and take a bit to download.

Yeah I am the guy with the funny accent who spoke to several MR2 owners at Santa-Pod a few weeks ago. I was unfortunately not taxed at the time or I would have loved to bring my new purchase down for some baseline testing but I will be going back on the 14th of May. I was hoping to get in touch woth some of you guys as you all seemed very helpfull. THough I just want to make it clear that the cap I was wearing was there due to the stupid cold and the fact that I had no hair (I'm not a chav, I'm not a chav, I'm not a chav,)

Mike

Ps as for the pictures as far as I can tell even my thumbnails take ages to load from Imagehost so I think that the problem is on their side as well
