Your upload is ok (the ADSL norm) - download is a bit lacking though! Mine is 1900kbps downstream (thanks to BT's free 2mb upgrade), but the upstream is the same - we need a host with 512kbps upstream min really, so the idea of hijacking a server still appeals, there are normally a few empty ones kicking about anyway!
I suspect the release of GT4 today will mean fewer racers tonight though!

I wonder if they are going to implement this in F1, instead of just communicating with thier own crew the drivers should be able to have a nice friendly chat with the other drivers in the race.

Voice will be fine, I used to play Combat Flight Sim on 56k dialup with RogerWilco, used to lag a bit when voice was on but a broadband connection can easily take the hit.
Talking of which - can everyone ignore the RogerWilco suggestion and now download http://www.ventrilo.com instead! A certain person (Larrick aka Nelo) has been whining like a 5 year old about RW, so to save tantrums we should all use Ventrilo instead ;) (Apparently it's a lot 'cleaner' too and uses less bandwidth)

Will be joining in for a few races soon but what is the name of the server that everyone races on.

Server is/was called MR2 Stuff - password :- hohoho

Due to connection problems last week we may be elsewhere, if so there will be a message relayed when you join MR2 Stuff

Bit quieter last night compared to the week before - but the racing was top quality :)

Here are the mpr files in chronological order, earliest first:
BL1_race_5L_2R_2F.mpr
BL1_race_5L_2R_2F_2.mpr
BL1_race_5L_5R_4F.mpr
BL1_race_5L_4R_4F.mpr
BL1_race_5L_3R_3F.mpr
BL1_race_5L_4R_2F.mpr
BL1_race_5L_5R_3F.mpr
BL1_race_5L_6R_4F.mpr
BL1_race_5L_4R_4F_2.mpr
BL1_race_5L_0R_0F_2.mpr
SO1_race_5L_4R_1F.mpr
SO1_race_5L_4R_4F.mpr
SO1_race_5L_4R_4F_2.mpr
SO1_race_5L_4R_4F_3.mpr
SO1_race_5L_4R_4F_4.mpr
SO1_race_5L_4R_3F.mpr
SO1_race_5L_0R_3F.mpr
All replays in a zip file (4.8Mb)

Blackwood racing was really close for the last few, between Vashy, Goto10, CJB (FlyingV) and me - excellent stuff. Of interest are BL1_race_5L_6R_4F.mpr and BL1_race_5L_4R_4F_2.mpr where I did low 1.36 chasing down Goto10 (in the 6R4F) and our fastest laps were covered by ~1s.

As you can see, we went onto SO1 at about 10 last night, for some top fun racing in the MRTs (Formula Student) which was great fun - I'd never driven one up to that point, so I happily circulated setting fastest lap. I also learned how to recieve setups  (I got down to a 54something).

IIRC, you'll need to have downloaded the full version to view the SO replays - it can just be the full version running in Demo mode.

All of the replays continue right up to the point where the next race starts, so you'll probably see the random chat at the ends of the races..

Looking forward to next week!

Is the upgrade just for 1MB customers then?

I had really good fun on the first two laps of BL1_race_5L_6R_4F.mpr
plenty of bumper to bumper / side to side racing with Speedy,
never did get around to asking Vashy if he had joined a team!

So where was Larrick after conning me into dowloading the bloody thing?
I heard someone in the bushes outside halfway through the night though....

My PC at home is down so no LFS for me last night....had to contend with GT4 instead. No thanks to Steve who refused to help me with my problems. I think they call it, eliminating the competition. :(

How many cars can you unlock if you only have the demo version. Do you have to buy the game to unlock all of the cars

to unlock the cars you need to accumulate points, points are gained by finishing in the top 3 in a race, either online, or against the AI on your own computer.

To win a race online, you'll need to be capable of a 1.37 (in the GT / GTi), and be good under pressure :) - practice makes perfect!

I'm in a NA (gti's / gt's) tournament with these guys: racing.elkdanger.co.uk

The races are usually on.... Weds nights, which is why I've been late lately..! I'm not that good, but was a lot better in the last race, Blackwood, must have been all the practicing with you guys (:

Oh and Speedy, I've sorted out my braking now (:

Blackwook GP hosted the proceedings for rounds 5 and 6 held on Wednesday 9th March, with close racing again to be had by all. Vashy was a surprise front-runner at this meeting, having kept a low profile at previous events, and raced on scoring 7 points over the course of the meeting.

ooooh, get you :) on the homepage 'n everything!!
