i have the chance of getting some alloys they are 8.5J ?? and have 225 - 40 -18 would these fit on to my mr2 which is lowered about 30mm with standard shocks?? oh and there a 35 ofset
If its any help I have 215/45/17 on the front and 235/40/17 on the rear with offsets of 25 and 30 respectively.
On the front, the tyre misses the underside of the strut by no more than 2mm i would say so don't know if the 40 profile you are looking at will be low enough.
Hopefully someone can clarify for sure but my first though is it won't fit.
I had some 235/40/18's for about 10 minutes, decided they looked silly and changed for 225/35/18 instead.
They cleared my coilovers and sat just about in the arches but mines pretty low to be fair.
I got 215/35/18 on the front and 255/35/18 on the rear you probably could squeeze 265/35/18 on the rear but nothing more than 215's on the front with them rubbing like mad,
jesus! thats huge tyre!!
so if u can get a 265/35/18 on the back.... then how wide could you go on a 17" wheel?!!
i alwayse fort 255 wide was the max on a 17" letalone 265 on an 18"

Correct
An 8.5j rim is too wide really for upfront unless you have some form of bodykit/wide arch conversion, To clear the suspension you will need at least an offset equal or lower than 35 and with that width wheel it will already be stuck out beyond the arch
