WILL THE CT20 BE GOOD FOR 330 FWHP

Post by Leakie Tbar »

Hi Guy's Gal's

I have just been on the ATS site and I am toying with buying a td06 20g kit, I don't want silly power 300-350 @ the flywheel will do me,
:D
I have just purchased charge cooler and I am worried that the ct20b will run out of puff. [-o<

I belive I have the supporting mod's to handle this fig :-k

A ct20 will get you well over 300bhp at the fly but the more you go past 300 the more you're pushing your luck as the turbo will be at it's limits.
Watch out OZ here I come !!

We have a customer who recently achieved 318bhp at the hubs at Thor using a stock CT20b @ 1.2kg/cm2. I'll see if he'll let me post his dyno plots next week.

Supporting mods are:

(Rev 3 3SGTE)
Tubular Manifold
Revision6 Downpipe
Blitz Nur Spec Exhaust
BMC CDA Enclosed carbon fibre air filter
Revision6 Radtec Chargecooler
Walbro 255l/h Fuel Pump
Link XLeM Standalone Engine Management
Apexi AVC-R Boost Controller

It'll do it yes, but you really don't want to be running the stock ceramic wheel above 1.2bar max TBH.

318 at 1.2bar

Thats good................be good to see what that does on someone elses dyno, thors dyno results have been rather, well higher than normal.

Don't mean this in a way to slag them off, but only thing you hear about thor these days is there results are usually high compaired to others, just thing comparisons would be good over taking them for gospel.

oh i know its possible but its pushing it to the limit.

Its just the 1.2 bar seems a bit high, usually see around 270-280bhp with that pressure on a stardard ct20b.

I thought it was just the shaft that was ceramic? I seem to remember reading this on Fensports website...?

all depends on what peeps tranny losses are i guess........
some places might give you 280bhp fly for 230whp, and some maybe give you 300bhp with 230whp.....

quite a difference in places.

Yes, but the transmission loss through your car doesn't change :-s

i know that, but every dyno has there own way or working it out....hense different results.....
ive been given 37bhp losses and 58bhp losses, my transmission/wheels/tyres hasnt changed.

Is there a confirmed figure on IMOC or some other reputable source of information that we can get the actual transmission losses from?

That way you can work out the whp based on the measured fwhp minus transmission losses. That should elimate 'anomalies' in comparitive figures and would give a better indication of the actual differences of using one dynamometer from another.

peeps would have liked that yonks ago dude.....why you think theres so many threads about the subject. lol.

i certainly wouldnt trust a flywheel fig converted to a whp fig, as its the whp that is measured initially, then a flywheel fig got from that......
all (in my opinion) you need is a hub or wheel figure to compare, as every RR would give you the same +-1% power at the wheels...
whereas its the flywheel that is "guessed" between different dynos.

Best way to see gains is up the strip really.

You can pump up your tyres to 40 psi and make loads more rwhp. I know a few people here have been tempted on the RR days
