Distress Flare
Found one in a Toyota Lucida at the scrappy - says expiry date of 2006 on it - but how do I make it safe - i dont want it catching fire to my car???

mine expired in 95 or 96, to hell with it!! if it catches fire im insured!!

I set mine off the week i found it, not technically legalto be carrying a firework around in your car in this country ISTR.
All imports came with a flare, not the sort you fire into the sky though. They're used in Japan as reflective triangles are over here. You set it off and stick it up the road from where you've broken down.

Is yours an import?
Look in the passenger footwell and you should see 2 clips that hold it. If it's there it will be about 6" in length and about 1" in diameter and it'll be red.

Owned a Tubbby for around two months now but only seen it for one day In for a rebuild and I might take that flare out as I'll never use such a thing... or set it off on an Xmas night.

You might still have it, you might not. You can replace it with a mini maglight.

It's more of a practicality thing than a look thing though.

A maglite would be much better suited in its protective case in the glovebox surely? So it doesn't kicked etc
