Chatting to a colleague last night, we were discussing his new Audi and servicing, and he said that the car tells you when in needs servicing, based on sensors that monitor the oils condition.

Googling this morning, and hey presto, I've found a system that can be retrofitted to any car.

There's a write up of how it works in a sensors magazine linked off the website, but summarising, it can determine whether the oil is good, worn, additives depleted, plus soot or water contamination.

Basically it tells you when you need to change your oil, no more changing good oil, and no more running with dead oil.

I've e-mailed the company this morning, enquiring about more details and pricing for 1 off and for multiple quantities.

If there's some interest, I could run a group purchase.
