TURBO OR NOT TO TURBO THAT IS THE QESTION

Post by Leakie Tbar »

Hello People,

I am after a bit of advice, I have a 1998 Rev 5 cosmos blue n/a 49k and I am after a new baby. I have toy'd with the idea of getting a Supra/R33 skyline but thinking about cost, insurance, and the hassel of finding a home for my Mr2. I was informed about a engine swap £2500k,
I am a timed served toyota technician with the use of a garage so the fittment is not a problem. :D
I know what you are all saying Sell the UK Mr2 and buy a turbo
But I have a sexy looking Mr2 (pervert) which I think looks the sheeeet!!

Is it worth the Swap ????????????????????????????????????????
tell me I NEED TO KNOW #-o

If your doing it yourself go for it, buy a crash damaged turbo for £500 - £1K and your laughing.

Agree, do the swapout yourself and you'll save thousands.

I did my rev 3 for <1k, a little more than the £750 rear cut, see the writeup in knowledge base engine section.

Not to say anything against those two companies, but their turbo engine prices are very, very expensive. You can get a running rev1/2 crash damaged donor for well under £1k.... my engine and box cost me £400 and my father got a complete running car for £650; ok so a rev3 is going to be more, but you get the idea.
